The “lawless” week

“There are none of the niceties of contemporary festivals. It feels lawless”. That’s what  Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos  says about Sziget in an interesting Guardian article about Europe’s summer Festivals. The same article says that the festival, a week-long party on an island on the Danube is known as one of the wildest in Europe.

    This is an interesting comment as I have felt this way about such events in Hungary ever since I got here, in 1990. There are just so many rules at big concerts in the US, for example, and things are still fairly loose in Hungary – still…
