As we told you some time ago, Alanis Morisette will be playing Sziget this year. Now her website confirmed it. According to alanis.com, we even have a date - August 13th.

For all of you eagerly waiting to see Serj Tankian at Sziget this year, here’s a fan-filmed video of him performing a cover of Dead Kennedys’ “Holiday in Cambodia”, a few weeks ago.

As you all know, Tobias Sammet of Edguy has a new solo project, Avantasia, that will be playing Sziget this year. Sammet has just revealed  the touring line-up for this summer, a very interesting one. It will feature, according to Sammet “Jorn Lande (ex-MASTERPLAN), André Matos (ex-ANGRA), Amanda Somerville, Olli Hartmann, Bob Catley (MAGNUM — not all shows), Sascha Paeth, Miro, Robert Hunecke, Claudy Yang and Frank Lindenthal who is gonna replace Eric Singer who’ll be playing with KISS. Despite all rumors Michael Kiske will not be there, as he didn’t wanna do it and I respect that!”. Sammet promises a huge epic show on the tour, so it’s gonna be well worth checking out their performance at the Hammerworld stage this year.

Very good news!  Sziget France has announced that Justice will definetly play this year’s Sziget. Justice will play Sziget on August 17th.

Justice is already mentioned as playing Sziget on the festival Last.FM page.  Alanis Morisette is also persistantly rumored for this year’s festival.

A rumor that’s been very persistent on a lot of forums and websites lately, the one about the legendary-just-reformed Rage Against The Machine playing at this year’s Sziget Festival. There are even some sources that say that the announcement is just a matter of time and that the band will play on August 17th. Nothing officially confirmed yet, though. We’ll keep you posted the moment we have more on this.

More good news for metal fans, this time. German thrash-metallers Dew Scented will be playing this year’s Sziget, on August 15th. The news is also confirmed on their official site.

Good news for all of you planning to go to Sziget and dance all night. Sziget Festival’s Spanish site confirms Carl Cox turning the tables at the Party Arena on the 15th. Also mentioned is Kymani Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley, who will be playing the festival’s World Music Stage.

According to Sziget’s Last.fm page, the latest name for this year’s festival are Pete Doherty’s Babyshambles. We’ll keep you posted if any other new names pop up.

Later edit: Babyshambles have disappeared from the last.fm page, but they are confirmed on the French forum of the Festival. We’ll see if it all falls into place, after all…

The organizers of Sziget have reported today, after announcing a lot of important artists playing this year, that Leonard Cohen won’t be one of this year’s acts. This happens after the Canadian musician announced playing Sziget himself. He has since cancelled his August tour dates.

 

We told you about Jamiroquai playing at Sziget this year a few days ago, today it is officially confirmed (with a date, too -  August 14th), along with a few other names. Here are the most important of them: Goran Bregovic Wedding & Funeral Band will be playing the World Music Stage, Serj Tankian (a name that many wished for), Avantasia, Lacrimosa, Flogging Molly, The Wombats, Anti-Flag, At The Gates, Mademoiselle K  and Delinquent Habits.

What was until now a rumor is now officially confirmed, and with a date, too, for the ones of you that plan to visit Sziget only on of the festival days. Iced Earth has announced its touring schedule for this summer on the official website, and Sziget is confirmed for August the 14th.
