This year’s Sziget will offer a lot for people interested in high profile culture. You will be able to watch 35 theatre and ballet performances, and Hungarian museums will sponsor 12 events.
The festival’s stages will host theatre events by Danza Contemporanea de Cuba, Stockholm 59 Degrees North, Hofesh Shechter and the Vietnamese National Water Puppet Theatre. This year, museums will also have the opportunity to offer their own programmes to Sziget visitors.
Bad news for people hoping for a last minute announcement of Rage Against The Machine playing Sziget’s Main Stage this year. The last band on the Main Stage, playing on August 15, at 16:30, will be The Cribs.

Gary Holt, songwriter and lead guitarist of EXODUS: “After many years in the planning and discussion stage, we have finally completed the re-recording of “Bonded By Blood.” We have decided to call it “Let There Be Blood” and it is our way of paying homage to Paul Baloff by showing how relevant these songs we had written together still are. We aren’t trying to replace the original, that’s impossible anyway. We are just giving these songs the benefit of modern production. It’s something we talked about before Paul’s death and it’s always been important to us to do. We were super excited about entering the studio once again to record these classics, and now it’s back to writing the next studio record!”
The album is a tribute to Paul Ballott, the band’s original vocalist, who died in 2002.
American thrash legends Exodus will play Sziget on August 17th, starting at 20:00 hours, at the Hammerworld Stage.
Still no news about the last headliner and if there will actually be one.
Still, we stumbled across an article about Hungarian band Büdösök on The Little Black Egg, that says Sziget is “a giant, boring rock fest stuffed to the gills with bands a good fifteen years past their sell-by date.”. What do you think? Are they right?
