…at least that’s what Hungarian music site Zene.hu says in the article (Hungarian) they published today. Faith No More are listed for the Main Stage, and so are Manic Street Preachers. The article also includes some other new names.
One of these is Maximo Park, that our friend Mellowmaniac predicted a while ago. Then, there’s Chris Corner’s project IAMX, that we also told you about a while ago. Also listed is famous BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong.
And it doesn’t end here. Life of Agony are also listed to play at this year’s Sziget.
And some more good news, from the release on the Hungarian site. Primal Scream are also listed to play at this year’s Sziget!
UPDATE!!! Our wish (and yours, we’re sure) came true: It’s official! The Sziget official Facebook page lists Faith No More and Manic Street Preachers as confirmed acts!
And yet another UPDATE: the official Sziget Hungarian site also lists these bands, as well as Turbonegro. The rest of the bands have already been mentioned on Szigetnews.
And another UPDATE on this very busy day: La Fura Dels Baus, Nouvelle Vague and Emily Loizeau are also confirmed on the French Sziget site.

The Sziget last.Fm page lists two more interesting acts for this year’s Sziget Festival. Vieux Farka Toure, a Malian guitarist/singer/songwriter, as well as French act Zamballarana (that confirms Sziget Festival on their official MySpace for August 14), will be at Sziget festival 2009.

Szigetnews friend feef. has sent us some very interesting news. He says that he talked to This Will Destroy You and that they told him that they will play at this year’s Sziget Festival. They’re quite an interesting band. Wikipedia says they play instrumental post-rock, we really don’t know if they can be categorized. Anyway, the songs on their MySpace are well worth checking out. Just click here to do that.
UPDATE: We’ve talked to Matthias, from their management, and he says they’re not confirmed. Let’s hope they do get confirmed, as they’re quite an interesting band.

It seems like today is one of those days in which announcements keep on coming. And we couldn’t be happier. The official Sziget Facebook site lists a whole bunch of new names. And there are quite a few interesting ones, that will certainly make you happy, as there is something to every taste.
Here we go, then.First, there is Tricky, then The Crystal Method and the Editors, as well as mr. Paul Oakenfold himself. Then, we have The Subways and Eric Prydz.
As always, we’ve posted links to the official sites, so that you can check out the bands easily.
What do you think about that? How about the line-up so far? Who else would you like at Sziget Festival this year?
Abig Szigetnews thanks goes to tool and Mellowmaniac.

The French Sziget site and their Facebook lists another interesting act listed to play Sziget Festival this year – Lord Sassafras. He will play the Roma Tent and is an emblematic character that plays a mix of world music, rock and ethno-techno influences, that he calls “Global Style”. More details on his MySpace.
UPDATE: also listed on the French site are Amadou et Mariam, a very interesting duo from Mali, that have been around for more than thirty years. Well worth checking out, this is their website.
Another announced act (on the French site as well), are Woven Hand, a band that features ex-16 Horsepower man David Eugene Edwards. Their official website can be found here.
That’s not all. Hungarian act Muzsikas, “Hungary’s finest folk band”, will also play this year’s Sziget, and so will Muchachito. Even if there is no information for Muchachito, we think they’re talking about Muchachito Bombo Infierno, a band that seems to fit the profile of the festival.
(thanks a lot to Szigetist and Xavier)
