Do you think they also have the last names for us?

  2. Henk says:

Will the Inmedio dnb bar return this year?

  3. Martijn says:

Ask those question on facebook, there you will get answered.. I hope!

  4. japajaa says:

I asked about the beer price on the Q&A session and the answer was 2,1 euros per 0,5l.

Will Szigetnews make a summary of the most important questions and answers of the Q&A? It would be helpful.

  6. Aladi_Ruals says:

Its all a smokescreen, they may have asked all of those bands but its how hard they tried to actually book them that really counts and we don’t really know how hard they actually tried.

  7. Sieget says:

I believe they are honestly sorry for the relatively bad line-up and that they really tried. Tons of names in there I would have loved though.

  8. Joep says:

It appears to me that Alt-J is missing in the list of invites.. maybe TBA..?

  9. FAB says:

    Underworld?

  10. fifi says:

Strange….Pendulum is over, rage against the machine too

  11. C says:

Over as in not playing anymore? Nope, saw Pendulum last weekend at Dour Festival. RATM is on a break though, so it was pointless to ask them :)

I do believe they tried to book those artists, but probably didn’t offer enough money for them to make the trip to Budapest.

  12. John says:

So, less than two weeks, and no news at all….
You can bloody ask everyone to come, but you have to pay and book them! If you can’t be at least honest to your custumers and stop increasing prices. Whats the point in this list of missed opportunities?

  13. Ambassadeur says:

Half of this band are in usa or didn’t tour now… Actually every year the biggest problem of sziget is dates. Same weekend a lot of bands are touring in usa and scandinavia…

  14. stella says:

Exactly! That’s why they were thinking about changing the date of sziget, but that means too much adjustment/negotiation etc even with other festivals. This was actually mentioned in an answer.

  15. fifi says:

Try to book rage is like asking Scarlett Johanson become your girlfriend, you can try but it is already lost.

  16. japajaa says:

@fifi actually, in February there was a rumour of possible RATM tour 2013. Source: http://www.nme.com/news/rage-against-the-machine–2/68547 I believe that Sziget organizers have asked if the band could play in Sziget if they would do a re-union tour. So I don’t think it has been pointless to ask if they could come to Sziget.

If there would have been RATM re-union tour and the band would have played in Sziget it would have been something spectacular.

  17. Mezzezo says:

Pendulum could be very realistic. since they broke up in Pendulum and Knife party, Pendulum has become relatively cheap, they are even preforming on a very small festival (Huntenpop) in my home town.

  18. Eddie says:

Clever to invite Bon Iver, a band that broke up last year

  19. Sexmonkey says:

To clear this pendulum stuff up pendulum is now a pendulum dj set ie one of the remaining members who is not part of knife party so it’s not really pendulum at all tbh but after all this moaning I have just watched the video they have just posted on facebook and apart from the dance heavy weak line up the festival looks like its going to be a bigger party and look so much cooler than previous editions!

  20. Hoebele says:

Is the map of Sziget 2013 already available somewhere?

  21. FAB says:

no map, they yesterday says that today will be pubblished…i don’t know what, but something doesn’t work in the organization this year…

  22. Michael PD says:

As @Sexymonkey said, the video posted on the Sziget Facebok page looks really awesome, definitely worth having a look at.

  23. FAB says:

    on official fb page:

Sziget Festival Official: The organizers are waiting for one “bigger” name to confirm. All the remaining acts will be announced as soon as we have the confirmation of the managements. Anyway, Les Tambours du Bronx is a really-really great band, just give them a listen and you’ll see.

J:is it Die Toten Hosen or Manic Street Preachers by any chance? ;;)
    Sziget Festival Official: We’ll see…

  24. HGPM says:

    I hope it’s Manic Street Preachers…

  25. Crazyfrog says:

die toten hosen is totally possible

  26. Jozsi says:

Yeah, I’m the one who guessed the Manics and DTH, hope at least one confirms. They’re both quite possible, and probably the best alternatives for the two open slots at this moment (taking into consideration all the bands that already said they won’t come + the touring schedule of other bands)

  27. Hoebele says:

Map of Sziget 2013 is online on official facebook page

  28. blabla says:

Iggy and the Stooges playing in Vienna on 10th august! they are perfectly fit for the saturday co-headliner, so come on Sziget!

  29. Agony says:

The official answer where all the metal did go is rather strange: “We are also disappointed with our metal line-up, we really wanted to bring them to Sziget but we did not succeed. We have around 5-6 metal bands playing 1-2 weeks before or after Sziget in Hungary but unfortunately for this week they were not available.”

Lack of knowledge of Sziget bookers about the genre???? I can mention easily a much longer list of hardrock/metal in Europe these weeks: Fear Factory, Killswitch Engage, Exodus, Slayer, Walls of Jericho, Cult of Luna, Biohazard, Monster Magnet, King Daimond, Death Angel, Carcass, Venom, Rammstein, Gojira, Danzig, Lamb of God, Devil Driver, Meshuggah, Sabaton, Trivium, Vista Chino (Kyuss Lives), Karma to Burn, Pro-Pain, Opeth, Hatebreed, In Flames, Madball, Anthrax, Testament, Amorphis, Orange Goblin

  30. adam clark says:

Anyone from Brutal Assault could have fitted the bill & many of them were announced very early on in the year. Simply, they had no care for metal this year.

  31. Aladi_Ruals says:

Along with the big list of bands that declined to come to sziget it comes down to how much effort is being put in to actually signing them. You can say you’ve asked whoever you want but if you haven’t put a serious offer on the table to anyone then actually you haven’t made any effort to book anyone at all.

It would have been fairly easy to book a small rock/metal stage at the festival, there didn’t have to be massive multi national bands theres plenty of smaller bands that would of appeased the rock/metal fans who feel the most hard done by out of everyone line-up wise.

I also think that Sziget has got way too complacent with booking bands so late, as there is much more in the way of competition out there bands schedules fill up a lot earlier which means you need to be booking them as early as possible to actually have a chance of getting them.

The booking of the bands for sziget 2014 should start the second the 2013 party finishes if they are actually serious about the line-up if not then they are going to have the same complaints this time next year.

  32. Sieget says:

    Too many assumptions here.

Agony, they also said that they couldn’t come with a proper metalstage line-up, so that’s why they cut on it. Good or bad decision is just a matter of taste.

  33. Aladi_Ruals says:

@sieget. Really? Well I would of assumed that the organisers had a good knowledge of music and not bothered contacting the Foo fighters, Bon iver(both on breaks) and Adele (doesnt do festivals) but they said they did in their list. (they are just the ones I know of that sprung out at me)

Its also a matter of taste whether it would of been a good or bad rock/metal stage so why not just go with it and see what happens, its not like the main stage is fantastic either perhaps they shouldn’t have bothered with that also.

  34. lambo says:

Download normally are in talks with its headliners for the following year before that years festival even starts

  35. Aladi_Ruals says:

@Lambo, Exactly, they need to be far more proactive to get the best acts at the best prices, unfortunately I just don’t think that the music is Szigets main priority anymore.

  36. Jozsi says:

So Sziget’s booking policy is a bit like Arsene Wenger’s and David Moyes’s transfer policies this summer ;) (inside joke for people into football)

  37. Ambassadeur says:

    One week to go…
