Sziget has not announced any new names yet, but we can already speculate on who we will – and will not – see at the 2017 anniversary edition based on what other festivals either under Sziget’s umbrella (Volt, Balaton Sound) or other festivals in the area (Electric Castle, Untold) announce. The first artists and bands to participate at some have seen the light of day today.
Update: Hungary Today hints on Bastille coming to Sziget 2017. I personally think it’s a mistake that sneaked into the article (it looks like a confusion by the author who wrote Sziget instead of Strand), but you can never say never.
Strand Festival, held every year in August on the shores of Lake Balaton, has recently announced that British indie pop band Bastille will be performing at Strand on August 24th, 2017. The band, who performed two years ago at VOLT Festival, and at Sziget Festival this past year, will be playing at the 2017 Sziget Festival as well.
Bastille has its live schedule listed on its website until next August. They will play at Bramham Park in Leeds on the 25th, the Reading Festival on the 26th, and Leeds Festival on the 27th of August. Neither Strand Festival (the 24th), nor Sziget is listed there. So, we’ll see.
Thanks @Steven Gehner for the catch.

There is another major Eastern European festival – Untold, also taking place in Cluj-Napoca – is expected to announce its headliners. The interest for the festival is massive – according to a recent press release, the batch of 5,000 passes that were made available last Friday sold out in approximately 3 minutes. The third chapter of the festival will take place between the 3rd and 6th of August.
Last year, Untold shared quite a few names with Sziget: Hardwell, Parov Stelar, Afrojack, Fedde le Grand, and John Digweed, among others. Among its headliners, there were quite a few big EDM and electornica names (check out their complete 2016 lineup here).
Hopefully, Sziget will not keep us on the edge of our seats for long, and will give us a few names to be excited about.
