Summer Festival Circuit Roundup, Round 2

festival circuit roundup 2018

Update: Sziget just announced on its official Facebook page that it needs "a little bit more time" to be able to publish the first performers of next year's event: We wanted to be in a position to make an announcement this Tuesday, but to make Sziget 2018 as big and as exciting as possible we need just a little bit more time. We are incredibly excited for how the festival is shaping up, so please bear with us and stay tuned for more details so soon. Next summer's festival circuit lineups are starting to be populated by performers booked by festival organizers all

The Lineups of Szigets Past (2009 to 2016)

Sziget lineups Poster - www.szigetnews.com

There has been a lot of chatter about how Sziget's lineups keep getting worse (or more "mainstream") in the last few years. We've decided to take a walk down memory lane and look at the lineups of the festival since 2009 (this is as far as our records go back). There are two things that influence the lineup of a music festival that make their presence felt in the case of Sziget, too - even if it considers itself (and it is considered by many) more than just that: the current taste of the prospective visitors and the availability of performers

Sziget NL Announces Several Local Acts

Europe Stage 2016

Sziget NL announced several Dutch acts to be added to the Sziget 2016 lineup today. All of them will perform on the Europe Stage. Without further ado, here are the names. Europe Stage John Coffey is a Dutch punk rock/post hardcore band, influenced by bands like Refused, The Ghost of a Thousand or Every Time I Die. The band name was borrowed from the 1999 movie The Green Mile, written by Stephen King and directed by Frank Darabont. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=351cf8os7PQ The band released a new album last year, called The Great News, and a fresh EP, A House for Three, last year. Sziget Announces the Lineup of the World Music Stage

LaBrassBanda

Just like in the previous years, the Sziget Festival will feature great music from all over the world. The organizers of the event have just announced the lineup of the World Music Stage, which will be incredibly colorful this year - focusing on roma (gypsy) traditions this year. The World Music Stage is the melting pot of the Roma Tent, the Afro-Latin-Reggae Stage and the Hungaricum Village, with an enormous concentration of performers of the genre. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIIJ_O-XLRg This year's lineup offers several Eastern European and Balcanic styles, not excluding others - like fado - but its main focus will still be on Roma music, with

Ministry in the Sziget Festival 2012 lineup!

Here’s some fabulous news about the Sziget 2012 lineup. It’s beginning to take shape. The legendary industrial band Ministry will be playing Sziget Festival 2012. They have just self-confirmed a number of tour dates on their DeFiBriLaTour for this summer on their official Facebook page and guess what: Sziget Festival 2012 is confirmed for August 8! Al Jourgensen’s band will be supporting a new album called Relapse on this tour. The album will be released on March 30 and it was recorded late last year. It will be even more interesting since Al Jourgensen has said in a recent interview that he won’t

Big dates update + a few new names

On the A38-Wan2 stage, two new acts have been added: Electrelane (on August 11) and Watchaclan (August 13), both very interesting from what we could hear on their respective sites. Now,
