Big dates update + a few new names

The official Hungarian website has updated the program page and there are some interesting things in it if you look carefully, as well as some new names.

Let’s start with the new names, shall we?

First of all, on the Europe Stage, two new bands have been added: KILLO KILLO Banda and The Broken Beats. KILLO KILLO Banda will play on August 12, while The Broken Beats will play Sziget on August 10.

On the A38-Wan2 stage, two new acts have been added: Electrelane (on August 11) and Watchaclan (August 13), both very interesting from what we could hear on their respective sites.

Now, on the Rock and Metal Stage, we also have two new acts: Tankcsapda, playing August 14 (they need no introduction) and Austrian melodic death metallers The Sorrow (on Ausgust 13).

Last but not least, the Meduza venue also adds Dario Zenker for August 12.

On the Roma Stage, we have a new act as well – A the Sam.

All of these changes are reflected in our Sziget 2011 line up page.

Helloween, Goose and Hudson Mohawke in the Sziget 2011 line up

Some really cool information coming our way today.

First of all, metal fans will be happy to hear that the official Szigetfest Twitter account is announcing Helloween for the Metal Stage.

The same source also announces Goose, for those wanting to party at Sziget. (UPDATE: Goose will be playing on August 11, according to their Facebook - thanks Eva!)

On the other hand, the Sziget France Facebook announces Hudson Mohawke for the A38-Wan2. They’re also confirming Goose and Helloween.

Three more interesting acts self-confirmed!

Good news today. Three more interesting acts have confirmed themselves for Sziget Festival 2011.

First of all, we’re talking about Great Imitation (we got an e-mail from their bass player, saying that they’ve won the Surface Unsigned competition in the UK). They are fully confirmed, but are still waiting for the date when they will be playing Sziget Festival 2011. The Sziget appearance is also mentioned on their MySpace. As for their style, they are “a mash up of a lot of different styles – mainly indie/pop/hip hop and spoken word.” Check them out on their MySpace, especially since they have a single coming out this summer, which they are set to record in a few weeks.

The second act is Gypsy Sound System, from Switzerland. The duo plays a highly energetic mix of folk, festive, biodynamic & combined music, according to their MySpace, where they are confirmed to play Sziget Festival 2010. Check out the tracks on their MySpace, they are quite interesting.

Last but not least, DJ Ondrej Psyla, from the Czech Republic, is also playing Sziget 2011, according to his MySpace. “His sets range from 130 bpm (Progressive trance) over 145 bpm (morning melodic full on trance) of 148 bpm (Night Full on Trance). Since 2004, he plays in the chillout with flutist Andy Warhol. In their recent performances you will hear mainly psychill and ambient.”, as he describes himself.

The last day for early bird Sziget tickets is today!

Just a reminder that today is the last day when you can get non-camping tickets for 140 Euros a piece (camping tickets for 170).

Starting tomorrow, tickets will be 170 Euro (200 camping). If you can and want to save some money, you should get your ticket today.

In other news, Billy Talent are set to play on a very busy August 15t - Danko Jones, Kasabian and Muse are to play on the same night.

A couple of Roma Stage self-confirmations

The Roma Stage is always a great place at Sziget. The fun is always at home, and so are the very interesting artists.

Here are the first two self-confirmations for this year’s Sziget Roma Stage (with a big Sziget news thanks to gábor). These are two quite interesting Hungarian acts.

First, we have Goulasch Exotica on August 13. The date is confirmed on their official MySpace.

Second, there’s the band Napra. Both the guitarist – Both Miklos – and the singer – Kinga Kramli – have confirmed the Sziget date on their MySpace pages.

30 Seconds to Mars, Calvin Harris, Nina Hagen & more confirmed!

More interesting acts have just been confirmed on the official Sziget site, through a press release.

Probably the most important for a lot of you would be 30 Seconds to Mars.

This will be good news for a lot of people that wanted them very much to play this year’s Sziget Festival.

Metal fans will be happy to hear about Fear Factory and Kamelot.

German legend Nina Hagen will also be at Sziget Festival 2010, and also Calvin Harris.

Major Lazer and Young Punx, that Sziget News already told you about, are now officially confirmed. So is the rumor about Charlie Winston, that we were talking about in the last few days.

Also confirmed are Breakestra, Simian Mobile Disco, Yeasayer, Death Valley Screamers, as well as Rada.

Two more main stage dates

Thanks to our friend Mellowmaniac, we know two more main stage dates for this year’s Sziget Festival. You can already see them in the updated lineup page.

So, K.I.Z. will play the Sziget 2010 Main Stage on August 12 (according to their website and MySpace page).

Mellowmaniac also found out from Subsonica’s management that they will play the Main Stage on August 14.

Vive la Fete are officially confirmed

Belgian band Vive la fete is now officially confirmed for Sziget Festival 2010 – they are listed on the official Belgian and Dutch sites.

The Young Punx self-confirmed for Sziget 2010

Another act has self-confirmed its presence at Sziget Festival 2010. The Young Punx are an English electronic dance music act whose style “encompasses french house, breakbeat and drum and bass, mashed up with elements as diverse as 1980s pop music, hard rock, disco and glam rock”.

The band has existed since 2003 and virtuoso guitarist Guthrie Govan, as well as Massive Attack vocalist Yolanda Quertey work with them on a constant basis. They’ve also collaborated with Dizzee Rascal on his album Tongue N Cheek.

The Young Punx are self-confirmed for this year’s Sziget Festival on their MySpace page. They’re set to play at Sziget on August 12. (thanks, Mellowmaniac!)
