A few more interesting acts have confirmed their presence at this year’s Sziget Festival via their websites or MySpace pages.
First, there’s Hudaki, from Nizhne Selyshe, Ukraine. Their presence is confirmed on their official website and you can check out their MySpace for a few songs. They play great traditional music, straight from the Carpathians!
Then, there’s Klezmofobia, a band that calls its music “New York Klezmer”. Their presence is confirmed on the Klezmofobia official website.
Also self confirmed on their MySpace pages are two Hungarian acts, Gyongyi Salla (for August 12) and Dalkloid Sound (August 13)
Unfortunately, due to guitarist Danny suffering a serious motorcycle accident, Vive la fete’s performance at Sziget Festival 2009 was cancelled, according to their official website.
Here’s a live performance by Miss Platnum, for the ones of you who want to get a preview of her show at Sziget Festival 2009, on August 13, at 15:00 hours, at the Main Stage. The songs are “Give Me The Food” and Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back”.
We’re all still waiting for the final line-up, but no news yet.
The Rock Against Racism Day will provide an interesting act called “Love Music Hate Racism Allstars Special (UK)”, which could promise some interesting musicians, as among the supporters of the Rock Against Racism concept are names like Anti-Flag, Babyshambles, Belle & Sebastian, Mylo, Shane McGowan, Lethal Bizzle, Doves, David Gray, Carl Barat, Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, Damon Albarn, Tony Allen, Reverend & The Makers, Jerry Dammers and more. Who knows, maybe some of these artists will be present. (thanks to our buddy Mellowmaniac again).
Disco Ensemble, the Finnish punk sensation that will play Sziget Festival 2009’s Main Stage on August 16, have just released a video for their song “Back on the MF Street”, off the newly released EP of the same name. You can watch the video below.
The band are in full form as they embarked on a huge summer tour, that will culminate with their performance at Sziget 2009.
…and it’s not the song “Surprise, You’re Dead”. Faith No More are offering quite a few interesting set on their live set for this tour. But maybe the most interesting one, that the’ve already offered to people seeing them this summer, is the one you can watch below.
After so many rounds of good news, we have to give you a bad one, too. GWAR’s show at this year’s Sziget Festival is cancelled, according to the French Official Facebook site. The band is not mentioned on the official site, either, anymore. Too bad, it would have been a great show. (thanks, Tetert)
Second of all, Szigetnews friend Tijn has sent us quite some interesting news. Dutch site Rock Blog says that the Sziget 2009 Zero Day, the Rock Against Racism Day, will have some international acts, too, in addition to the local acts that will most certainly be present. More so, the official French Facebook site lists the question “Prognostics pour la tête d’affiche du Day Zero (11 août) ?”, meaning “any prognosis on who the Zero-Day headliner will be?”. Rock Blog, that spoken to the organizers, also say that some international names will be confirmed soon, and that we’ll know in the following weeks.
Who do you guys think the mystery headliner will be?
Australian band Jet are confirmed on their MySpace for this year’s Sziget Festival (thanks, Mellowmaniac). Jet will play on August 14, possibly on the main stage or on the rock stage.
Mala Vita are a very interesting Dutch band and they are listed for the Main Stage of this year’s Sziget Festival, on the Dutch Official site. (thanks, tijn and alex!)
