Iron Maiden has posted the Sziget 2010 date on their official website.
According to the “Tour Dates” section on the Iron Maiden official site, they will play Sziget on August 14. This might be important news for people that only want to come to Sziget for the week-end.
That’s because they’ll be the main act for this Sziget’s Saturday night.

(this post is updated constantly)
The first official line-up announcement has just been posted on the official Hungarian website.
The first two very important names are ones that we all suspected – Muse and Iron Maiden!!!

Next come more important names: Kasabian, Billy Talent, The Specials and Gorrillaz Sound System.
Happy hardcore band Enter Shikari and Infected Mushroom (that Sziget News found out about some time ago) will also be there.
Then, Faithless, Danko Jones, the Hives and The Toy Dolls and Bad Religion (both of the last two names were announced here).
Also at Sziget will be Ska-P, that have been at Sziget before, and Gentleman.
Metal fans will be very happy to hear that Paradise Lost, that we told you about, will be joined in the Sziget lineup by The 69 Eyes and Ill Niño. And for the more extreme ones of you guys, Children of Bodom will be at Sziget Festival 2010!
Also on the metal front, Monster Magnet will be there, as well as GWAR, that Sziget News found out about a while ago!
In the same area, Papa Roach are also mentioned on the “Programs” page.
The fabulous lineup is completed with The Cribs, Subsonica and K.I.Z.
We also forgot to mention Lyapis Trubetskoy
Hope you are all as excited as we are! (FIDutchman, you’ve been a great help!)
Later edit: the Dutch Sziget official site also mentions Skindred for the WAN2 stage. (our thanks go to dinges)

Yes, that’s right, another important act has confirmed its presence at this year’s Sziget Festival. The band that has confirmed its presence in Sziget 2010′s lineup is GWAR. Oderus Urungus’ men were supposed to be at Sziget Festival 2009, this didn’t happen, but they will be here this year.
GWAR is known to be a great live act, so we can’t wait to see them at this year’s Sziget. GWAR will play Sziget Festival 2010 on August 11 and their presence is announced on the GWAR official website. (thanks Jari!)

AND ANOTHER UPDATE: the Paradise Lost official site also confirms this, so it’s 100% sure.
UPDATE: the news is also on Paradise Lost’s official Facebook page.
An important name is self-confirmed to be at this year’s Sziget Festival.
Paradise Lost have just confirmed themselves on their official MySpace page for this year’s Sziget Festival. According to their MySpace site, Paradise Lost will play Sziget Festival 2010 on August 13. (thanks, Mellowmaniac)

Even more good news for metal fans. It seems that the metal announcements were saved for last, let’s hope they keep coming. Turisas, the Finnish Viking Metal Band, an interesting act indeed, are confirmed on their website for this year’s Sziget Festival. They will be at Sziget on Saturday, August 15, according to their official site (thanks, Mellowmaniac & chudo_pahan).

Finally, some good news for all the metalheads coming to Sziget, after GWAR’s cancellation, that probably sadened quite a few people. The official Hungarian site lists Satyricon, the legendary Norwegian Black Metal band, that will come to raise hell at this year’s Sziget Rock Stage.

…at least that’s what Hungarian music site Zene.hu says in the article (Hungarian) they published today. Faith No More are listed for the Main Stage, and so are Manic Street Preachers. The article also includes some other new names.
One of these is Maximo Park, that our friend Mellowmaniac predicted a while ago. Then, there’s Chris Corner’s project IAMX, that we also told you about a while ago. Also listed is famous BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong.
And it doesn’t end here. Life of Agony are also listed to play at this year’s Sziget.
And some more good news, from the release on the Hungarian site. Primal Scream are also listed to play at this year’s Sziget!
UPDATE!!! Our wish (and yours, we’re sure) came true: It’s official! The Sziget official Facebook page lists Faith No More and Manic Street Preachers as confirmed acts!
And yet another UPDATE: the official Sziget Hungarian site also lists these bands, as well as Turbonegro. The rest of the bands have already been mentioned on Szigetnews.
And another UPDATE on this very busy day: La Fura Dels Baus, Nouvelle Vague and Emily Loizeau are also confirmed on the French Sziget site.

Szigetnews friend feef. has sent us some very interesting news. He says that he talked to This Will Destroy You and that they told him that they will play at this year’s Sziget Festival. They’re quite an interesting band. Wikipedia says they play instrumental post-rock, we really don’t know if they can be categorized. Anyway, the songs on their MySpace are well worth checking out. Just click here to do that.
UPDATE: We’ve talked to Matthias, from their management, and he says they’re not confirmed. Let’s hope they do get confirmed, as they’re quite an interesting band.

The poster on the Sziget Last.fm page lists a new addition to the headliners list for this year’s Sziget Festival. We are talking about Travis. Still, there isn’t any other confirmation for this yet. You can see the poster below.
