Sziget has been over for two weeks now, but your Sziget accounts keep on coming to Szigetnews.com. Keep them coming through the contact section, or via comment.
Here’s the latest we received, from Szigetnews friend Kevin:
Sziget was good as always, but it was better the last couple of years… Prices
have gone up extremely over the last two years. Line-up was a nice 90ies-feel
line-up, but we’re living 10 years later…
Two friends of mine were robbed. Both were sleepinh in there tents when people
came into their tents to get stuff out! That’s not your own fault!
Don’t know if I’ll go again. Maybe I’ll try the EXIT-festival next
year… But it’s a hard choice to make. Main reason to go to Sziget is the
massive possibilities to chill in tons of places!
This year’s Festival is now over, and, according to preliminary data released by the organizers, this year’s edition of Sziget Festival made approximately 421,000 euros in profit. The Festival was attended by a total of 385,000 people this year.
How was it for you? What did you enjoy most? What disappointed you this year?
It has been recently announced that around 60-80 consumer protection officers will work during this year’s Sziget Festival, in order to ensure everything is at an optimal rate. they will focus on food and water quality, as well as the safety of the venue (electric equipment, structures)
The organisers have also announced that police officers will randomly check visitors for drugs upon entrance, using dogs.
Tomorrow, Sziget Festival starts with Iron Maiden and Lauren Harris on the Main Stage.
It’s your turn now. Since each one of you is going to the festival to see something different, we think you’re the ones that would cover it best, the ones that have the best Sziget stories.
Szigetnews will wait for your opinions on the festival (as well as pictures), and the most interesting ones will be published on the main page. You can send in your input as a comment, as well as by using the “Contact” section or writing an e-mail on contact (at) szigetnews.com. What are you waiting for?
xpatloop.com features a very interesting article about the many other things you can do at Sziget, (except for going to the many concerts, of course). There’s theatre, literary programmes and many other interesting things to do. Click here to read the article.
The French duo that will play Sziget Festival this year on August 17th, has teamed up with design group Surface2Air to create their personal clothing line, inspired by their own wardrobe. You can already get them at a few retailers (jackets are 790 euros), as well as on Surface2Air’s website…
Bad news for people hoping for a last minute announcement of Rage Against The Machine playing Sziget’s Main Stage this year. The last band on the Main Stage, playing on August 15, at 16:30, will be The Cribs.
Is your backpack ready? Have you bought the tickets? Have you thought about the acts you really want to see? Are these acts overlapping? And if so, which ones and who are you going to choose? How about accommodation? Is staying on the festival grounds in the tent better than living in the city? Szigetnews wants to know what you think about all of this and more!
So feel free to post a comment and tell everybody!
Still no news about the last headliner and if there will actually be one.
Still, we stumbled across an article about Hungarian band Büdösök on The Little Black Egg, that says Sziget is “a giant, boring rock fest stuffed to the gills with bands a good fifteen years past their sell-by date.”. What do you think? Are they right?
We’ve had a lot of feedback from you about the line-up poll and most of you (51% - 188 votes) thought it could have been better this year. Still, a closer look at the Main Stage schedule on the official site will rise a question mark.
There is nothing programmed on Friday August 15th, in the spot between URH and Sex Pistols. Will there be a new announcement soon? That is the question.
It it very hard to think that the spot will remain empty or that URH will play for three whole hours.
