What we told you about a couple of days ago has now been officially confirmed by the Sziget organizers on the Sziget Official Facebook - 30 Seconds to Mars will be headlining Sziget Festival 2011. The band that Jared Leto is leading will be playing the Main Stage on Saturday, August 13, at 21:30, replacing Amy Winehouse.
The official Hungarian website has updated the program page and there are some interesting things in it if you look carefully, as well as some new names. Let's start with the new names, shall we? First of all, on the Europe Stage, two new bands have been added: KILLO KILLO Banda and The Broken Beats. KILLO KILLO Banda will play on August 12, while The Broken Beats will play Sziget on August 10. On the A38-Wan2 stage, two new acts have been added: Electrelane (on August 11) and Watchaclan (August 13), both very interesting from what we could hear on their respective sites. Now,
Sziget 2011 headliner Amy Winehouse has decided to actually go to rehab, in order to get prepared for her summer gigs, according to this news article on Gigwise. This should calm down fans that were concerned about her well-being..
UPDATE: The official Sziget France Facebook also posted the acts for the Gipsy, Meduza, Circus, as well as the Ambient Tent. We've posted it in the Sziget 2011 line up page. A lot of new names have been announced a few minutes ago on the official Hungarian site. Probably the most important are Manic Street Preachers and White Lies (we already told you about the latter a while ago) Let's see all the new names, then. The Main Stage now also features Manic Street Preachers, White Lies, La Roux, Mariachi El Bronx, Batucada Sound Machine and Ben l'Oncle Soul. The World Music Stage will
Our friend Mellowmaniac has written an e-mail to the organizers, asking some very important (especially) stage-related questions and he got a reply that answered his inquiry. In case you missed his comment, here's what he found out: 1.) The openair Metalmainstage will be placed where the metal tent was in the last years. The stage will be moved further backwards into the field so that more people will fit in front of the stage. 2.) The Europestage will be placed where last year the Jazzstage has been. 3.) On the Europestage 5 bands will perform each day. 4.) No infos about the jazz program
Another name we already told you about is now official. Ben L'Oncle Soul, already hinted, is now official. A newsletter from the French Sziget page, promoting the early bird ticket prices, lists Ben L'Oncle Soul in the lineup, as seen below.
The organizers of Sziget and the officials of Budapest district IV have reached an agreement, according to caboodle.hu. The agreement will put a stop to the lawsuits the district filed for noise pollution. The agreement states that the festival will not be louder than 55 decibels between 11 pm and 6 am and that noise limiting devices will be fitted, in order to turn the volume down, should it pass that level. Sziget will pay a 1 million foint fine if the noise exceeds the agreed level. The orientation of the stages will also be changed in order to comply with
Just as expected, the organizers have given us the second big Sziget 2011 line up announcement today. And things are as good as they can be. It looks even more like we're gonna have a brilliant Sziget week this year. Apart from Amy Winehouse and Lostprophets - two acts we told you about, here's what the announcement (and, by consequence, the Sziget 2011 line up) has to offer: Kasabian, The Maccabees and Good Charlotte are coming, and so do Deftones and Within Temptation (returning after an excellent performance a few years ago). Joining will be Kid Cudi, as well as Peter Bjorn
UPDATE: A user on the Sziget last.fm page says Foo Fighters, Klaxons and Arctic Monkeys will be announced tomorrow. Hopefully, that's not just wishful thinking... It actually was wisful thinking, but who knows? :) The official Sziget Festival Facebook page is announcing the fact that "New names for Sziget Festival 2011 line-up will be announced tomorrow!". This should be the second big announcement, featuring, most certainly, lots of interesting names. On the other hand, the official Sziget France Facebook page has announced the schedule for days -1 and 0. Day -1 - August 8 - will be the day of the "European
Our reader Thomas has started a Sziget 2011 playlist on Spotify. If you're a Spotify user, you can hear albums of all the announced or self-confirmed bands there (provided they're on Spotify). Isn't that cool? If you want to check it out, just click here or on the link in the Szigetnews blogroll.
