Self-Confirmed: Haydamaky @ Sziget

An older piece of news just brought to our attention (thanks chudo_pahan): Ukrainian Cossack rock band Haydamaky will return to the stage of Sziget Festival after six years. The date of their concert is yet unspecified. The band was born in 1991, after Ukraine gained its independence from the Soviet Union. The band was known as Aktus back then, mixing Ukrainian folk music with ska and reggae. They were discovered by EMI in 2001 - it was then that the band changed its name to Haydamaki, "in honor of the eighteenth-century Haydamak rebellion against the Polish szlachta". The music of Haydamaky is inspired

Avicii is expected to enchant his audience with stunning visuals at this year's Sziget Festival. Official Sziget 2015 Anthem by Irie Maffia

Irie Mafia - Easy as One Two Three

Irie Maffia turns 10 years old this year, and they can add another great achievement to their CV - their song "Easy As One Two Three" has been selected as the official anthem of the 2015 Sziget Festival! The song, which will be included on the band's next album, is not just a series of notes, but has a message, too. According to Sena, the Irie Maffia's voice, it tells you that "whatever the feeling might be, good or bad, if you speak it out you set it free, and you set yourself free as well". The tune is the work of Élö

Snoop Dogg’s (or Snoop Lion’s) new single

Snoop Dogg, one of Sziget 2012’s headliners, has released a new single, off his future album, called Reincarnated. Nothing new so far. Except for the fact that the single (called “La La La”) is under the pseudonym Snoop Lion. And there’s more: it’s a reggae song and it’s produced by Major Lazer. It will be interesting to see how this new music will sound on the Sziget 2012 Main Stage. Anyway, you can listen to the new track below and tell everyone what you think.

Easy Star All-Stars in the Sziget Festival 2010 lineup

Another interesting name for this year's Sziget Festival, that we know about from our friend Mellowmaniac. Easy Star All-Stars, a very interesting New York-based reggae band, is set to play Sziget Festival 2010, according to their agency's website and MySpace page. Easy Star All-Stars usually do cover albums in a reggae / dub style. Their Pink Floyd cover album is probably their most famous work to date. According to their agency, they will play Sziget Festival 2010 on August 11.

More reggae for Sziget 2009: Tiken Jah Fakoly confirmed

More good news for reggae fans coming to Sziget Festival 2009 - Tiken Jah Fakoly, one of the important artists of African reggae music, has confirmed his presence at the Festival. He has been living in exile, especially in Mali, for the last few years and has been declared persona non grata in Senegal for criticizing president Abdoulaye Wade. Tiken Jah's presence at this year's Sziget Festival is officially confirmed on his MySpace.
