Announcement: Kings of Leon @ Sziget 2015 (Main Stage)

Kings of Leon

Sziget Festival has just announced the next band to play the Main Stage of the event: Nashville rock band Kings of Leon. "We have been trying to lure the band for years, and now, after a negotiation marathon, we finally did it," Gerendai Károly said, "because - as they are not in Europe at that time and they usually have just a handful of gigs in the summer - we had to get them to fly over the ocean just for us." Judging by the comments at our previous posts, Kings of Leon will be an act that divides: some of our visitors expressed

Self-Confirmed: Haydamaky @ Sziget

Haydamaky

An older piece of news just brought to our attention (thanks chudo_pahan): Ukrainian Cossack rock band Haydamaky will return to the stage of Sziget Festival after six years. The date of their concert is yet unspecified. The band was born in 1991, after Ukraine gained its independence from the Soviet Union. The band was known as Aktus back then, mixing Ukrainian folk music with ska and reggae. They were discovered by EMI in 2001 - it was then that the band changed its name to Haydamaki, "in honor of the eighteenth-century Haydamak rebellion against the Polish szlachta". The music of Haydamaky is inspired

Self Confirmed: Lord Bishop Rocks @ Sziget 2015

Lord Bishop Rocks

Self confirmed artist: Lord Bishop Rocks will visit Sziget Festival at the 16th of August as part of its MOTÖRFUNK tour. The trio - recommending itself as "the most exciting and musically gifted Rock trio of the 21st century" - plays 70s influenced Hardrock, Funk, Blues, Jazz, Reggae and Punk – meshing it into a sound they call Hendrixian Motör Funk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNJ23mKJBUA Lord Bishop Rocks has lifted this stylistic template to new stratospheric levels. Imagine Beatlesque melodies, Sabbath’s heaviness and James Brown’s funk all rolled into one. What is for sure is that sooner than later Lord Bishop Rocks will be rock music’s most well

Sziget 2015 Announcement: Limp Bizkit, Avicii, Hollywood Undead and more!

Another week, another handful of names confirmed by the Sziget Festival Republic! The Sziget 2015 lineup has been improved with the following names: Avicii Limp Bizkit Hollywood Undead Cro The Gaslight Anthem Soja Dj Marky & Stamina MC So, let's start with the beginning. Avicii is expected to enchant his audience with stunning visuals at this year's Sziget Festival. The Swedish superstar is one of the most popular electro house acts of his generation, with all the traditions of the Swedish electronic dance scene behind them (think Ace of Base, Basic Element, Army of Lovers and many others). Tim Bergling (this is his real name) is barely in his twenties, but

Bad Religion @ Budapest Park on the 18th of August

In an event completely unrelated to the Sziget Festival, punk lovers will have a reason to stick around in Budapest for an extra day: influential punk group Bad Religion will be live in concert at Budapest Park (here). The event has been confirmed on Facebook, but it is not yet present in the Budapest Park official list of events, and neither is it to find on Bad Religion's websites (they will be at Chiemsee Summer on the 19th, so it's plausible). Bad Religion played at the Sziget Festival in 2013, and several times before, but this time their performance will mean an unexpected

Are you happy that Blink 182 isn’t coming?

As we told you earlier today, there is a very big chance that the Blink 182 at Sziget 2010 rumor won't confirm. Some people on the site sounded quite happy about this. So we thought about having a poll here on Sziget News and see what the general opinion is, just for fun. Comments are most welcome, as they always are. [poll id="2"]

Muse, Iron Maiden Kasabian, Billy Talent & much more @ Sziget 2010

(this post is updated constantly) The first official line-up announcement has just been posted on the official Hungarian website. The first two very important names are ones that we all suspected - Muse and Iron Maiden!!! Next come more important names:  Kasabian, Billy Talent, The Specials and Gorrillaz Sound System. Happy hardcore band Enter Shikari and Infected Mushroom (that Sziget News found out about some time ago) will also be there. Then, Faithless, Danko Jones, the Hives and The Toy Dolls and Bad Religion (both of the last two names were announced here). Also at Sziget will be Ska-P, that have been at Sziget before, and

GWAR confirmed for Sziget Festival 2010 on their website

Yes, that's right, another important act has confirmed its presence at this year's Sziget Festival. The band that has confirmed its presence in Sziget 2010's lineup is GWAR. Oderus Urungus' men were supposed to be at Sziget Festival 2009, this didn't happen, but they will be here this year. GWAR is known to be a great live act, so we can't wait to see them at this year's Sziget. GWAR will play Sziget Festival 2010 on August 11 and their presence is announced on the GWAR official website. (thanks Jari!)

Paradise Lost self-confirmed for Sziget 2010 lineup

AND ANOTHER UPDATE: the Paradise Lost official site also confirms this, so it's 100% sure. UPDATE: the news is also on Paradise Lost's official Facebook page. An important name is self-confirmed to be at this year's Sziget Festival. Paradise Lost have just confirmed themselves on their official MySpace page for this year's Sziget Festival. According to their MySpace site, Paradise Lost will play Sziget Festival 2010 on August 13. (thanks, Mellowmaniac)
