This very busy day continues with even more news. One of the contributors of our friends at the German Sziget board has noticed a rather interesting reply to a comment on the official Rotfront Facebook. When asked whether they would come to Sziget this year, the answer from the band (in German) was “most likely”, as you can see below. Hopefully, this confirms.
As he does every year, our friend Mellowmaniac has gathered a list of artists touring in the area. It's always updated on the German Sziget board, bestdayz.net. Some of these artists will certainly play Sziget 2012. Here's the list, along with festivals they're playing: Headliner speculations: The Cure (05.-08.07. Roskilde, 07.07. Heineken Jammin, 09.07. Rock in Roma, 13.-15.07. Optimus Alive) Foo Fighters (rumoured: 26.-28.08. Reading / Leeds) The Beach Boys (03.08. Berlin, 04.08. Stuttgart) Radiohead (10.07. Nimes, 13.07. Bilbao, 15.07. Optimus Alive, 27.-29.07. Fuji Rock) Placebo (10.-12.08. Taubertal) Alice Cooper (03.08. Rock Oz' Arenes, 10.-11.08. Skogsröjet, 12.08. Bloodstock) Scorpions (04.08. Wacken) Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band (confirmed
UPDATE: Some more good (or bad) news, depending on the way you see it. :) Our friend Island was at VOLT and, according to him, Jared Leto's exact words were I have a surprise for you. We'll be back. Don't tell anyone but we'll be headlining Sziget Festival later this year! This is a speculation that, if confirmed, will make a lot of people happy. And it will also annoy a lot of people, since 30 Seconds To Mars do seem to generate mixed reactions... Our friend festivalfreak tells us that 30STM lead singer Jared Leto said at VOLT Festival (a Festival that
The Sziget France Twitter and Facebook pages have posted a video of Ben l'Oncle Soul, without any other mentions. Could this mean he will be playing Sziget? Nothing on his official website or MySpace...
UPDATE: in the meantime, Linkin Park has disappeared, so who knows... Here's another confirmation on what was quite a busy day. Dutch band Go Back To The Zoo is confirmed on the official Dutch page for the Europe Stage. On the other hand, in the good tradition of the Sziget team leaving hints, just like they did with Amy Winehouse, the Sziget France page leaves another interesting one. All of the bands' favourite pages on the Sziget France Facebook page are from bands already confirmed. Except for one - Linkin Park. Might this mean that they are the next important confirmation? Could
Madness is set to return to Sziget, after the excellent performance in 2007, according to an article on website quart.hu, that you can check out here (it's in Hungarian). According to that same article, Madness would play Sziget on the next day after the Bob Marley celebration, so that would make it an August 11 performance. Nothing on the Madness website, MySpace or Facebook yet. Let's see if this gets confirmed soon. (thanks, Blaz!)
As we told you earlier today, there is a very big chance that the Blink 182 at Sziget 2010 rumor won't confirm. Some people on the site sounded quite happy about this. So we thought about having a poll here on Sziget News and see what the general opinion is, just for fun. Comments are most welcome, as they always are. [poll id="2"]
Here's an update on the earlier Rise Against rumor. We tried to confirm this with their staff, and we got an answer a few minutes ago from Missy Worth, at their management. This is what it said: We will not be playing- we won't be in Europe in august Sorry to give you this news, but the information on the last.fm page is inaccurate. We also got some good news from the Rise Against management - the band will play in Budapest in June.
As you may remember, Rise Against were set to play at last year's Sziget Festival, but it didn't work out after all. As it seems, an appearance by the band is possible in this year's Sziget Festival line-up, as their name has shown up on the Sziget last.fm page. We're trying to find out more about this and will keep you posted on what we discover.
First of all, the bad news. The Kills are officially cancelled, according to the official Dutch site. Then, the (possibly) good news. Deftones are listed on last.fm as playing Sziget Festival this year, and the news is coming from Life of Agony's site (a band that's been confirmed for a while now), that says, on the Sziget Festival date - "W/Faith No More, Turbonegro, Deftones". Let's hope this confirms.
