We’re back from the fantastic week that Sziget 2010 was, and everything was fabulous, as always.

Still under the spell of the exceptional Muse show last night, or the great Iron Maiden performance (even if we got the impression that there were some sound problems there). It’s hard to even mention what our highlights were. We loved Monster Magnet, but also Danko Jones. We enjoyed Ska-P’s energetic show, but also Chapelier Fou’s beautiful music. And we loved the fact that there was something cool to see every time we went by the Blues Stage (including the incredible Hubert Tubbs).

Deadmau5 had to cancel Sziget and a few other shows because he collapsed on stage during a performance.

Everybody was curious to see who Sziget will get to play instead of him.

Well, the answer is already in the Sziget schedule on the official website. It’s Timo Maas.

Timo Maas will play Sziget 2010 on August 15, at 01:30.

Quite an interesting press release we received today from the Sziget Office.

To anticipate Iron Maiden’s performance at Sziget, Derek Riggs, creator of Maiden mascot Eddie, has made a special Sziget drawing for the cover of New Noise magazine.

The image features Eddie withe the Hungarian Parliament as a hat, shouting “Sziget”.

Only a few days left until Sziget Festival 2010 starts. We know we can’t wait to be there!

Unfortunately, Deadmau5 won’t be playing Sziget 2010 anymore. According to a message from the Deadmau5 management,

[...] whilst performing onstage at the 9:30 club in Washington DC,

deadmau5 collapsed, suffering exhaustion and vomiting. Medics at the venue took

him directly to hospital where he is now under supervision

deadmau5 is sad to advise his fans that on the strict advice of the doctors, he

now has no choice but to cancel the next 9 shows of his Summer tour schedule to

allow for his recovery. The dates affected are listed below.

Deadmau5 hopes to reschedule appearing in these cities in due course but in the

meantime thanks all his fans for their understanding and support.

August 7th Summersonic Osaka Japan

August 8th Summersonic Tokyo Japan

August 12th Cream at Amnesia Ibiza

August 15th Sziget Festival Budapest Hungary

August 17th Cavo Paradiso Mykonos Greece

August 18th Opium Mar Barcelona Spain

Some other interesting news is that Breakestra will be replaced by Die Antwoord on August 15, at the Party Arena.

Ukrainian band Antytila has won the Nemiroff contest and will play Sziget 2010. The Ukranian rock band will play the Rock Stage on August 13.

Their performance is set to start at 00:40.
