Yesterday, Sziget Festival announced the latest additions to its 2019 lineup, naming the artist to occupy the last free headliner slot: it's The National, the American rock band formed in 1999 in Ohio. The band has just announced the imminent release of its new album called "Am Easy to Find" scheduled on May 17th - this means that their fans will be delighted to hear their fresh materials the best way, live on the stage. Eco-Friendly Camping Accessories For Sziget 2019

Each year, the organizers behind the Sziget Festival focus more and more on the event being as sustainable and environmentally friendly as possible. So much so, that the last few editions of the event have been fit to be called a "green festival" by none other than the Ministry of Environmental and Water Protection in Hungary. Among the measures introduced by the festival in the last couple of years, we find everything from recycling centres and special containers for cigarette butts to rewards offered for those who deposit PET and aluminium waste and used camping accessories at the reception, among

No World Music Stage at Sziget 2019

World Music Stage

Bad news for world music loving Szitizens: after years and years, Sziget closes its World Music Stage starting its 2019 edition. The news was broken by Lángoló Gitárok, a long-running Hungarian music blog, and confirmed by Kardos József, Sziget's Program Manager. Kardos was quick to reassure Szitizens that this move doesn't banish world music from the festival, especially since world music is so influential today that its effects can be pinpointed even in the songs of many Main Stage performers. Instead, the genre will be integrated into the program of another venue - which one, Kardos didn't say just yet. Why does

Sziget 2018: New Information at Yesterday’s Press Release

Sziget 2018 Prices Love Revolution

"We have managed to put together the strongest musical program this year", Kádár Tamás, Sziget Festival's lead organizer said at the beginning of yesterday's press conference. "It's enough if you look at the headliners of the Main Stage with present-day stars like Kendrick Lamar, Gorillaz, Lana Del Rey, Mumford and Sons, Dua Lipa, Kygo or Arctic Monkeys". Kádár took over for Gerendai Károly as the lead organizer last year, after the latter announced his retirement of sorts from the position after 25 years. Kádár also revealed that after cross-checking with the festival's new investors - the event now has a three-year growth strategy.

Arctic Monkeys is the name you've all been waiting for - and as it turns out, you were right. And they might also have quite a few new things to show off, as they have started recording their latest studio album in September 2017, for a 2018 release. Although they promised an announcement to be made at 12

Announcement: Kendrick Lamar, Mumford & Sons, Others @ Sziget 2018

Kendrick Lamar announcement

Unlike in the previous years, when December saw the first announcement (or two) regarding the lineup of the event in the coming year, this year Sziget took its time. It has prepared to announce part of its lineup in December but delayed it at the time, citing its need for "a bit more time" to put together a relevant announcement for its fans. And the day has finally come: Sziget has announced the first artists, bands, and DJs to take its stages this August. Without further ado, here they are: Above & Beyond Alle Farben Bastille Blossoms Cigarettes After Sex

Sziget 2017 Wins “Best Lineup” at European Festival Awards

European Festival Awards 2017

Last night, Europe's festival scene - along with its many fans around the world - sat on the edge of their seats to see whether they will receive any of the accolades awarded at the European Festival Awards. The ceremony was, as usual, exciting, with many great artists taking the scene. This year, the organizers handed out 15 awards, some of them based on the vote of a committee, others relying entirely on votes from the public. "Take A Stand Award" was given out for the first time this year, based on a Yourope initiative meant to encourage social cohesion. Best
