World Music Stage

Experienced Sziget-dwellers surely know that the World Music Stage is one of the most interesting venues you can visit during the festival. It is a place filled with performers from all over the world, and the place where lots of local Hungarian bands share their art and entertainment with the diverse crowd visiting the island year after year. This year, the World Music Stage lineup is a collection of the "best" - the bands below have all been performing there in the past, adding further layers of diversity to the Island of Freedom. As the organizers and fans of Sziget Festival keep reminding us, the event is not just a music festival. Sziget 2017 PJ Harvey interview

Two and a half decades have passed since Hungary, after shaking off the Soviet influence, started its journey toward a more politically and culturally liberated society. Sziget Festival has become one of the symbols for this journey, initially choosing the talent on its stage (and later stages) from the local talent pool, and later expanding to become the major international festival it is today. The history of Sziget Festival is one of the topics of the interview below, where the folks from PollstarPro have spoken to Sziget Cultural Management's International Relations Director András Berta. In the interview, Berta speaks not only about

First Europe Stage Performers Announced

Europe Stage Lineup Sziget 2017

Sziget's Europe Stage offers its visitors a good look at the emerging talent from the local music scene of various countries. Although it's called "Europe", sometimes it expands its boundaries beyond the Old World, featuring performers from beyond it - Full Trunk, for example, is a band coming all the way from Israel. Each year, bands with an incredible variety of styles and backgrounds perform on this stage. For this year's anniversary edition, Sziget has announced the first artists and bands to perform on this popular stage: ALMA (Finland) Elle Exxe (UK) Klangstof (Holland) BAZZOOKAS (Holland) Biga * Ranx (France)

Sziget lineups Poster - www.szigetnews.com

We've decided to take a walk down memory lane and look at the lineups of the festival since 2009 (this is as far as our records go back). There are two things that influence the lineup of a music festival that make their presence felt in the case of Sziget, too - even if it considers itself (and it is considered by many) more than just that: the current taste of the prospective visitors and the availability of performers
