…and it’s not the song “Surprise, You’re Dead”. Faith No More are offering quite a few interesting set on their live set for this tour. But maybe the most interesting one, that the’ve already offered to people seeing them this summer, is the one you can watch below.
According to the Official French Facebook Sziget site, a new act has been confirmed for this year’s Sziget Festival. French ska and reggae group Babylon Circus are confirmed to play at the WAN2 stage of this year’s festival on August 15.
…at least that’s what Hungarian music site Zene.hu says in the article (Hungarian) they published today. Faith No More are listed for the Main Stage, and so are Manic Street Preachers. The article also includes some other new names.
One of these is Maximo Park, that our friend Mellowmaniac predicted a while ago. Then, there’s Chris Corner’s project IAMX, that we also told you about a while ago. Also listed is famous BBC Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong.
And it doesn’t end here. Life of Agony are also listed to play at this year’s Sziget.
UPDATE!!! Our wish (and yours, we’re sure) came true: It’s official! The Sziget official Facebook page lists Faith No More and Manic Street Preachers as confirmed acts!
And yet another UPDATE: the official Sziget Hungarian site also lists these bands, as well as Turbonegro. The rest of the bands have already been mentioned on Szigetnews.
Szigetnews friend feef. has sent us some very interesting news. He says that he talked to This Will Destroy You and that they told him that they will play at this year’s Sziget Festival. They’re quite an interesting band. Wikipedia says they play instrumental post-rock, we really don’t know if they can be categorized. Anyway, the songs on their MySpace are well worth checking out. Just click here to do that.
UPDATE: We’ve talked to Matthias, from their management, and he says they’re not confirmed. Let’s hope they do get confirmed, as they’re quite an interesting band.
GWAR’s management, Issachar Entertainment lists the summer festivals dates for GWAR this year on their website, and Sziget Festival is mentioned. They even give a date – August 13. Looks like there’s going to be some serious action on the island, with GWAR there…
As we already suspected, the news that Rise Against won’t be at Sziget this year, after all, is now confirmed by our reader tool. He wrote an e-mail to their management, asking about this and the reply he got was the following:
They are not coming- it ended up not working out! Sorry, we will be coming there on this album though.
On the other hand, our friend Mellowmaniac has a few more line-up ideas for you, based on current tour dates. Let’s hear him:
Long time no rumours…
To heat the Radiohead discussion up:
The guys seem to move closer and closer to the sziget dates. After confirming Leeds and Reading (29.+30.08.) and anouncing two shows in Poland (23.+25.08) they are now strongly rumoured for the FM4 Frequency festival in Austria (20.-22.08.).
Come on guys: just a few more dates and you’ll play Sziget again!
Lily Allen seems to be a little bit more available as before (offdays: 11., 12.+13.08).
Arctic Monkeys are still “available†on 11., 12.+16.08.
And as a new guess: Glasvegas. They are supporting U2 on the second leg of their tour and are only playing London on the 15th within the Sziget time frame. (and with Snow Patrol we already have another U2 support band in the line up).
Szigetnews reader Kevin had quite an interesting proposal, in order to make the organizers more aware of what the people that go to Sziget every year want. Here’s what he suggested:
Let’s do a little survey. Everyone give 3 names that you want to see at sziget the most (and that are possible at sziget dates). I’ll start. My first name is Metallica, I know that they said that their European tour is over before Sziget but they don’t have any plans for that time so I still have some hope.
My second name is Limp Bizkit- I don’t know why, I just love them! and they are playing in Europe in July.. So maybe.
the third name is Arctic Monkeys. I know them for just a month and I just love them.
Let’s start making some pressure and make sure they know that the current line-up is just not good enough.
What do you guys think? And what are your three names?
Boy, do we have great news for you today! The official Hungarian Sziget site has confirmed quite a few important acts for this year’s Sziget Festival. Here we go, then. First of all, The Prodigy will present their new album, “Invaders Must Die”, at this year’s Sziget Festival. So will Placebo, you’ll get to hear “The Battle For The Sun” first hand.
But that’s not at all everything. There are more official names for this year’ Sziget, all announced at once. First, there’s Tankcsapda – the legendary Hungarian band will celebrate its 20th birthday on the “minus-1″ day of the Sziget Festival.
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it as many times as possible – the Szigetnews readers are the best. This time it’s Szigetnews reader Mussi that found some very interesting rumors on the Guano Apes message boards. We all knew the band has reunited for a few festival appearances this summer, but what you didn’t know is that there are quite a few chances for Sziget Festival to be among these appearances. The news comes from a user’s friend, that organizes concerts in Budapest, apparently.
Guano Apes have already confirmed Nova Rock and Benatska Noc Festivals.
We’ll be frank with you, we don’t know this one for sure, but many people (including Szigetnews reader Adam Peach) seem to be pretty sure of this. Faith No More have announced their reunion and have also mentioned that they will not play any venues in America. They only confirmed a European tour for this summer and said that it will include a few major summer festivals. So we think it’s quite possible for them to play Sziget, especially since it wouldn’t be a first time. Faith No More have played Sziget Festival before, in 1997. More as we have it.
