Sziget Announces the Lineup of the World Music Stage

LaBrassBanda

Just like in the previous years, the Sziget Festival will feature great music from all over the world. The organizers of the event have just announced the lineup of the World Music Stage, which will be incredibly colorful this year - focusing on roma (gypsy) traditions this year. The World Music Stage is the melting pot of the Roma Tent, the Afro-Latin-Reggae Stage and the Hungaricum Village, with an enormous concentration of performers of the genre. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIIJ_O-XLRg This year's lineup offers several Eastern European and Balcanic styles, not excluding others - like fado - but its main focus will still be on Roma music, with

World Village Stage

Sziget 2014 World Music names will also be announced this month, according to a reply the admin of the Sziget Festival Official Facebook page has posted. When asked when the Sziget 2014 World Music names would be coming, the admin said that it would be this month. You can see that in the screenshot below (in Hungarian). That should be pretty good news for a lot of people, as world music is a reason in itself to go to Sziget. Don't forget to read about today's announcement, if you haven't done so already! (thanks to Noeliam!)

Fanfare Vagabontu @ Sziget 2010

Another interesting act is self-confirmed for Sziget Festival 2010 - Fanfare Vagabontu. This is an act that includes 8 Gypsy musicians from the Moldova region of Romania and Marseille. Their music might sound familiar to you if you've played the game Rabbids, as they're responsible for the music in it. We assume they'll play the World Music Stage. They've made a small mistake on their MySpace, where they're confirming their presence, writing that Sziget is in Bulgaria, but they also wrote that they will be playing on August 15. The other piece of information we have for you today is more of a

Faithless on the 11th, Besh O Drom confirmed

The official French Sziget MySpace site features some interesting information today, in terms of programmation. First of all, Faithless is confirmed to play on the 11th, and some more acts playing dates (mostly World Music Main Stage ones) are now confirmed there. (thanks, Mellowmaniac) Second of all, Besh O Drom are also mentioned as playing Sziget Festival 2010 on August 12. All this information is reflected on our Sziget 2010 lineup page.
