New names this week, Sziget 2014 is ok financially

The Sziget Nederland Facebook page has some good news. According to this post, the first names for Sziget 2014 will be coming this week. We can’t wait to hear who we’ll see this year!

Another post addresses the problem of Sziget 2014′s financial situation, as there have been reports about it not being fabulous. The post says that, while it is true that Sziget had less visitors in 2013 and that costs for artists are higher (and that Hungary’s economy is not going that well), making it more difficult for the festival, they strongly want to combat that this translates into financial issues for the festival.

The post also mentions that, in order to get things back to where they were a few years ago, this year there will be investments in program locations, decorations and other projects and that these new directions will show in the acts announced soon.

The organizers also mention that the number of tickets sold so far in many countries is almost double compared to the same time last year.

Among all the names that came up, I think that Queens of the Stone Age & Shrillex will be part of Sziget 2014
    - Shrillex is not such a bad electro headliner
    - they came last year @volt & @ Balaton Sound

Blink 182 + a surprise would be great and will make a balance line up

by the way, MGMT, Voltbeat and Bring Me The Horizon are announced for Volt on Lastfm:

Is there any chance that the festival might be sold-out? I’m willing to take the 7days camping ticket but I have to wait for some friends for them to obtain the visa.

  18. Sziget News says:

@Noeliam: it’s never sold out. Too big a place. :)
