Sziget NL Announces Several Local Acts 2016 lineup Blues Stage Europe Stage line-up Sziget 2016 sziget festival Sziget News April 26, 2016April 26, 20160 Sziget NL announced several Dutch acts to be added to the Sziget 2016 lineup today. All of them will perform on the Europe Stage. Without further ado, here are the names. Europe Stage John Coffey is a Dutch punk rock/post hardcore band, influenced by bands like Refused, The Ghost of a Thousand or Every Time I Die. The band name was borrowed from the 1999 movie The Green Mile, written by Stephen King and directed by Frank Darabont. The band released a new album last year, called The Great News, and a fresh EP, A House for Three, last year. Rilan & The Bombardiers, another addition to the lineup announced by Sziget NL, plays a mix of soul, rock, hip-hop, and a bit of funk, like a mix of Bach, AC/DC, Coen, Xzibit, and Zappa. According to etep.nl, “Rilan’s backing band, the Bombardiers can make even a retirement home go crazy”. Looking forward to hearing them on Europe Stage. Blues Stage Erik Ankoné is a performer who “pours his heart and soul into each song”, according to the Jazzbergen website. He plays a combination of blues and folk, both original songs and “traditionals” adapted to his own style. He either plays solo or with his band The Gone Wrong Kings. He returns to the Island after performing there last year, too. Leif de Leeuw Band is considered one of the most promising Dutch bands of our days. Playing contemporary blues-rock, the band has several prestigious awards under its belt: it won the Sena Guitar Awards in 2013, the Dutch Blues Challenge in 2014, and the European Blues Award in 2015. Lightstage LOLA is a young female duo from Amsterdam, consisting of Hannah Lotte and Suzie Lora. The two met while at the Conservatory, and after jamming together for the first time, they created LOLA. They play a mix of jazz, soul, and pop, with guitars and keyboards in the background. Their preferred theme is the life in Amsterdam. Sziget NL also announced a two acts from the Maas dance company, Nastaran Razawi Khorasani, and Anne Fé de Boer & Lotte Homer join the lineup of the Theater and Dance Tent.
