A new year has come - unfortunately, with no new participants to Sziget Festival announced by the organizers. But life doesn't stop because of this delay. Neighboring Romania has its own - growing - festival scene with events being announced and performers being booked across the year. And some of them happen right in time to also make it to Sziget's lineup this year. We've already covered the lineup Electric Castle has announced so far in this article so we won't do it again, especially since the festival hasn't announced any new names yet. But there are three other events (aside from

Two new bands in the Sziget 2013 line up. Hungarian acts LochNesz and Paddy and the Rats have both self-confirmed their presence at Sziget Festival 2013. LochNesz say on their Facebook page that they will be playing Sziget 2013 on August 10 at 1 AM, while Paddy and the Rats will be on the island on the same day. Also, the official page has listed the schedule for the Colosseum stage. Check it out here. (thanks go to SkaPanda and MJ)
Dutch polka DJ Kees van Hondt is the latest name to self-confirm for Sziget 2013. The news has been confirmed on Kees’ website, where he says he will be playing August 8. Kees van Hondt has played Sziget before, and the last time was in 2011. (thanks go to Ruben!)
More Sziget 2013 lineup names will be coming pretty soon, according to an answer on the Sziget Festival Official Facebook page. A Sziget fan said that he thought more acts should be announced, and the administrator answered, as you can see in the screenshot, that new names would be coming “pretty soon.” Exactly how soon is that, we don’t know, but it’s still good news.
UPDATE: according to one of our friends, that has seen the info on a Sziget Facebook group (and wishes to remain anonymous), the full announcement includes four more names (for a total of 11) and will be made tomorrow afternoon, if everything goes according to plan. The info, he says, has been deleted since. A new batch of names for Sziget 2013 has made its appearance on Fesztivalok Varosa, a website that was never wrong when it came to Sziget announcements. According to them, the new batch of names to be announced is as follows: Die Ärzte (D) Azealia Banks (US) Boyz Noise (D) Deichkind (D) Hadouken!
A lot of new Hungarian names have self-confirmed their presence at Sziget 2012. Most of them are names that are known to the Sziget fans. Still, good to know. We’re talking about Zagar – their presence is mentioned on their website. August 12 is the date. Then, Jay Lumen’s MySpace mentions Sziget on August 9. Chris Ronsson also mentions Sziget on August 9 on his Facebook, while Igor Do’urden will be at Sziget on August 10. Last but not least, Sikztah will also play Sziget 2012 on August 10. (thanks go to Rascal!)
According to festileaks.com, Sziget 2012 will have a new venue, called the Holland meets Hungary stage. The new venue will replace the Dutch meeting point and will feature afternoon readings by Dutch writer Jaap Scholten. The main program, in the evening, will consist (if we get it correctly) of a Jam de la Crème – a jam session featuring artists from bands like The Kyteman Orchestra, Anouk, Di-Rect, Caro Emerald Band, The Deaf, Relax, Tin Men And The Telephone, Soul Sister Dance Revolution, Janne Scrapers, Wired Paradise, the evening, GMB, Doushka, Jungle By Night, Sintiromarus and Hague dj duo Dagga Dagga, joined
Another name self-confirmed today. DJ and producer Dansor will be playing Sziget 2012, according to her official Facebook page. According to her official MySpace, her style is an eclectic mix of techhouse, minimal, progressive, electro and techno beats – a broad array of genres with an accent on fat basses, funky beats and twisted sounds. In other news, Anna Calvi will be playing Sziget 2012 on August 8, according to her Facebook page.
Two more names can now be crossed off the Sziget 2012 speculations list, as VOLT Festival has announced them. We’re talking about Royskopp and Simple Plan. These two names have been officially announced today on the VOLT Festival Facebook. (thanks, siti!)
