Sziget's Europe Stage offers its visitors a good look at the emerging talent from the local music scene of various countries. Although it's called "Europe", sometimes it expands its boundaries beyond the Old World, featuring performers from beyond it - Full Trunk, for example, is a band coming all the way from Israel. Each year, bands with an incredible variety of styles and backgrounds perform on this stage. For this year's anniversary edition, Sziget has announced the first artists and bands to perform on this popular stage: ALMA (Finland) Elle Exxe (UK) Klangstof (Holland) BAZZOOKAS (Holland) Biga * Ranx (France)
Another week has passed without any new names announced by Sziget 2016. There is a lot of speculation about Radiohead possibly making it to the festival, but there's nothing confirmed just yet. However, there is still a lot of time left until the final lineup of the festival to be announced. Until then, let's see a few bands, like Rammstein and Nightwish, that are in Europe close to the dates of the festival, which could still be announced to play at Sziget 2016. Nightwish Nightwish has been to Sziget twice before, in 2001 and 2002. The band has already announced a series of festival
The game is on: the attendees and fans of Sziget Festival will get to decide which of the applicable bands will get the chance to play at this year's Sziget Festival. To do so, they need to vote their favorite band and get their friends to do the same during the Sziget 2015 Facebook Voting Contest. The voting has started almost a week ago, and it goes on until the 30th of June (sorry for the late update) through this page. Here is the list of the bands participating in the contest (sorted according to the number of votes received so
Another day, more good news. A band that some of you have said you wanted to play Sziget this year has self-confirmed its presence. The Ting Tings will play Sziget Festival 2012, according to the tour dates page on their official MySpace. According to that same source, they will be at Sziget 2012 on August 12. Until now, August will also be the day for performances by Mando Diao, The Subways, as well as Magnetic Man. The Ting Tings have played Sziget Festival before, in 2009. (thanks, mellowmaniac!)
As always, our good friend Mellowmaniac has worked to gather a list of bands that could play Sziget 2011, based on the fact that they are playing festivals in the area during the same period of time. Most times, some of these bands make their way to Sziget. Here's the list, together with our thanks. 9 of the bands on his list were in the first announcement, so he must doing something right :) Rock, Pop & Indie: - Foo Fighters (20.08. FM4 Frequency, 21.08. Highfield, 23.08. Köln, 24.08. Chiemsee Rocks) - Scissor Sisters (05.08. Arenal Sound, 06.08. Sudoeste) - Arctic Monkeys (20.&21.08. V-Festivals) - Amy
The Sziget 2010 lineup now includes a new reggae act that confirmed itself. It seems that a reggae Zero-Day is starting to seem plausible. We are talking about Toots and the Maytals that have self-confirmed their presence on their official MySpace page, as well as their official website. They are announcing their presence for August 10, or Day Zero. (thanks go to Mellowmaniac again) P.S.: We're sorry we were down for a while today, our hosting had some problems.
The Surface Unsigned festival could give you this chance. The festival, aimed at unsigned bands, will tour the UK, giving artists from cities such as Glasgow, Newcastle, Manchester, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham, London, Brighton and Portsmouth the chance to win. The grand prize is £5,000 in cash, a slot at the 2011 Sziget Festival, a digital distribution contract with Zimbalam Digital and various other incentives. If you're from the UK and you're interested, you only have until January 31 to sign-up, on the official Surface Unsigned website.
As written on their MySpace page, 19 Dirty Queens, "the new kings of rock 'n' roll", as they proclaim themselves, will play Sziget Festival 2009, on August 13. They sound very promising, from the tracks we heard on their MySpace page.
