Sziget Festival will give the chance to one - unknown - Romanian band to make its debut on its stage through its Sziget Talent contest, started a few days ago. To be eligible, the bands need to be: younger than five years old (year of establishment should be after 2010) an underground-alternative band, no matter if it's indie rock, hip-hop, electro or jazz (no tribute or cover bands) between 2 and 7 band members to not have a contract signed with any record labels The jury to decide which band will emerge from the Romanian underground will be composed of Dan Amariei (Omul cu Sobolani), Bogdan
One of Szigetnews' friends has sent us some interesting news a little while ago. According to him, Fink will play Sziget Festival 2012 on August 11. The source is, our friend says, Fink’s manager, a friend of his. This is what we know so far on this, but we'll try to find out more details. We’ll tell you when we’ll know anything else about it.
After Leningrad has self-confirmed their Sziget presence, two more names have been announced on the official Sziget Facebook page. First of all, we're talking about British Sea Power, set to play Sziget's Main Stage. Second, La Shica will play the Europe Stage.
Ukrainian band Antytila has won the Nemiroff contest and will play Sziget 2010. The Ukranian rock band will play the Rock Stage on August 13. Their performance is set to start at 00:40. Check out some of their songs here. Thanks go to Szigetnews friend chudo_pahan for telling us about this.
The Official Dutch Sziget site lists a whole lot of new and interesting names in its programme section, for the MR2, Amfitheater (jazz) Stage, and Roma Stage. The dates for next year's Sziget Festival have already been announced. The Festival will take place between the 11th and 17th of August. Just like last year, the first day (also known as "zero-day") will include a performance by a single international act.
