Budapest Mayor Gabor Demszky has vetoed the Budapest Assembly cityscape comitee's decision made last month to allow the Sziget Festival to use public areas free of charge for three years, according to caboodle.hu. Committee chairman Attila Ughy has said that the agreement was signed with the festival, and the city could be sued if anyone attempts to break it. Still, the mayor's decision does not affect this year's event. Ughy also said that the Mayor's letter did not clearly state whether Demszky objected to the three-year permit or whether his decision also extended to the upcoming Sziget festival. According to the Budapest Times, the director of Sziget Festival's organising firm has said that a record number of foreign visitors is expected on the island this year. Their estimated number will be around 40,000.
More new and important names for this year's Sziget. The Presidents of the USA and The Kooks are confirmed for this year's festival. The Presidents of the USA will play the Main Stage on August 14th, while The Kooks are set to play on August 13th.
Good news for all of you coming to Sziget to see Pendulum. According to their MySpace page, Pendulum will play Sziget on August 17th, starting at 20:00 hours.
Here's a rumor that we told you about a while ago, that is now confirmed. Many of you metalheads going to Sziget this year will be happy to hear that Meshuggah will play this year's Sziget Festival. The news is confirmed on their official site. Meshuggah will play Sziget on August 16th.
Thanks to our reader Hugo Renken, we found out that Little Cow, a very interesting Hungarian band, will be at Sziget this year. It is confirmed on their MySpace page (visit it to check out their songs). They will play Sziget on August 13th, starting at 23:00 hours, on the Aranyi Aszok Stage.

Since we didn't get to see Leonard Cohen at Sziget this year, the organizers have prepared another surprise. Singer-songwriter Adam Green, formerly of The Moldy Peaches, will play Sziget this year.
