Hungarian band Superbutt is self-confirmed for this year's Sziget Festival. The news that they will play Sziget is confirmed on Superbutt's official website. They are set to play Sziget 2010 on August 15, according to that same website. (thanks, Bas Assink)
ab4 are a very interesting Romanian / Italian alternative rock band, that have been around for quite a few years. ab4 will play Sziget Festival 2009 on August 14, starting at 18:30 hours, according to their official MySpace page, that you can visit if you want to hear some of their songs.
Maybe they're not such a well-known name, but this girl band seems to have atitude. Founded by four girls sharing a passion for music, Swedish girl band Kackten E Sait are set, according to their MySpace, to "change the world". We don't know if they'll succeed, but they will play Sziget on August 13, according to that same MySpace page.
Australian band Jet are confirmed on their MySpace for this year's Sziget Festival (thanks, Mellowmaniac). Jet will play on August 14, possibly on the main stage or on the rock stage.
Szigetnews friend feef. has sent us some very interesting news. He says that he talked to This Will Destroy You and that they told him that they will play at this year's Sziget Festival. They're quite an interesting band. Wikipedia says they play instrumental post-rock, we really don't know if they can be categorized. Anyway, the songs on their MySpace are well worth checking out. Just click here to do that. UPDATE: We've talked to Matthias, from their management, and he says they're not confirmed. Let's hope they do get confirmed, as they're quite an interesting band.
Don't tell anyone, but we just heard a rumor that Sigur Ros might play at this year's Sziget Festival and that the information is listed in this month's edition of Hungarian Magazine WAN2 magazine (thanks, Tibor). Szigetnews reader Erik is telling us some more great news. He says that Amy Winehouse is also listed in the article as a possible artist for Sziget Festival 2009. It seems quite possible, especially since she's playing T in the Park on August 16 and V Festival in England on August 29 and has no other dates in AUgust confirmed. A zero-day performance, maybe? We're trying
Faith No More have announced the lineup for this summer's European tour. Jim Martin won't be a part of it, as rumored. The lineup is as follows: Mike Patton - vocals Jon Hudson - guitar Billy Gould - bass Mike Bordin - drums Roddy Bottum - keyboards No tour dates have been announced yet, but rumors seem to suggest a Faith No More concert at Sziget this year.
We finally have a bigger name for this year's Sziget Festival to tell you about! We're talking about American melodic hardcore band Rise Against. Rise against will play Sziget Festival this summer, but we don't have a date for their performance yet. The good news is confirmed in a news article on Rise Against's official website.
As written on their MySpace page, 19 Dirty Queens, "the new kings of rock 'n' roll", as they proclaim themselves, will play Sziget Festival 2009, on August 13. They sound very promising, from the tracks we heard on their MySpace page.
