Although the budget of the Sziget Festival has grown to 4.4 billion HUF (over $16 million or 14 million euros) the current list of headliners to participate at this year's edition might not be as great as expected, the festival's organizers announced in a press conference today. Last year the festival's date was pushed back to avoid overlapping with major US and Japanese festivals. This year the above mentioned events will start later as well. This means that the organizers of Sziget might again be in trouble. Still, according to lead organizer Gerendai Károly, the interest in the festival is unbroken after
UPDATE:New names are coming next week, according to a post on the official Facebook. Good news from the Sziget organizers, according to some answers the admin of the Sziget Festival Official Facebook page. One of the fans has asked if he could get a new name as a birthday present. Part of the answer was "Names are arriving soon, very soon, we promise", as you can see in the screenshot below. That's not everything, though. Another fan is asking when the schedule would be released, as he can't stay for all of Sziget 2014. The answer is that we will all get to know
Two interesting locations have their schedules announced today. We’re talking about the Afro-Latin Stage and the Easter-European Sideshow. The Afro-Latin Stage schedule has been fully announced today on the szigetfestival Facebook account. We’ve already added it to the Sziget 2012 line up page. Also, the Eastern European sideshow will be a great location to visit. You can check out the activities there on the official site, here. (thanks, Steven!)
One of Sziget’s most colored venues, the Magic Mirror has a very interesting schedule this year, too. The schedule has been posted on the official site and it’s in our lineup page, too. The Magic Mirror starts its program on August 8. (thanks go to Steven).
No new names, just a date confirmation. The Subways will play Sziget on August 12, according to their official Facebook page. That means we already have two names for Sunday – The Subways and Mando Diao.
The official Sziget website has posted the (almost full) schedule for this year's Sziget 2011. We don't have to speculate anymore, because everything is confirmed. You can check it out here and we have updated our line up page accordingly. What must be mentioned is that Saturday, August 13, still doesn't have a headliner, we're certain it's worth the wait. Another observation is that Tankcsapda has gone missing from the Rock / Metal Stage, and this stage seems that it will have another two co-headliners announced (19:00 slot on Saturday August 13 and 20:30 slot on Sunday August 14).
The official Hungarian site lists an almost full schedule for this year's Sziget Festival. It also lists the whole listof acts for the Main Stage. We've updated our Sziget 2010 lineup page to include all the new dates and schedules. Feel free to check it out if you want.
According to their MySpace, Simian Mobile Disco will play Sziget Festival 2010 on August 12. We can't wait to find out what surprises the organizers have in store for tomorrow (as they announced on the official Facebook page), and we sure hope the Madness rumor confirms. Until then, all we can do is hope and wait...
Our friend Mellowmaniac has noticed that the Meduza Stage schedule has finally been posted on the official site, including Andrew Weatherall. What are you guys looking forward to at the Meduza Stage?
