Sondorgo at Sziget festival 2014
Sondorgo is one of the acts that have played Sziget Festival a few times. That's why it's not too much of a surprise that they will be at Sziget 2014, too. According to their Facebook, Sondorgo will be playing on August 17. The Scarlet are also self-confirmed for Sziget Festival 2014 - the date is August 12, according to their Facebook. How was Sziget 2013 for you?
Another year, another Sziget Festival has passed, with band we liked more or less in the lineup, but, as always, with tons of fun. And if you weren’t there, you could always get in on the action through live streams. Since some of you have already started sending in their thoughts, we thought we’d do a special post, where you can leave comments telling everyone about the way you experienced Sziget 2013.
Sziget 2013 in live video streaming
Sziget 2013 live video streaming is available for those of you that can’t make it to the island this year. Just like last year, the organizers have made it easier for those at home to watch some of the most important acts of the Sziget 2013 line up (about which we’ve had a poll) live. The broadcast will be done this UStream page. There will be two channels broadcasting and things will kick off with the Muzsikas concert, tonight, at 7 PM. We’ll post the schedule daily, so you won’t miss anything.
The Fratellis is the last Sziget 2013 name
As promised, the last announcement has come today. The last name to grace Sziget 2013 is The Fratellis. The announcement was supposed to include two names, the first one being Babylon Circus, which we told you about earlier. The news about The Fratellis playing Sziget 2013, together with Babylon Circus, has been officially confirmed by the organizers in a post on the Sziget Official Facebook page. Now that things are pretty much final, and Sziget 2013 is less than a week away, you can still vote in the Sziget 2013 line up poll, if you haven’t done so already.

No cigarettes sold at Sziget 2013
No cigarettes will be available to buy at Sziget Festival 2013, according to an article on website Xpatloop, quoting Head of the National Tobacco Trade Non-profit Ltd., Zsolt Gyulay. According to the quoted source, “mobile vendors and cigarette booths will be forbidden to sell tobacco at bigger festivals” and will only be able to do so if they have a permanent place of operation in the area, which is very unlikely for Sziget. That’s because no permanent tobacco-selling locations are available on the island. So, if you’re going to Sziget this year and you’re a smoker, you should probably bring your own cigarettes,
Quimby and Muzsikas on Day Zero
The official Sziget site announces the Day Zero acts for this year. Quimby will help visitors celebrate the start of Sziget in an Alice in Wonderland atmosphere, while Muzsikas will play a very special concert. Details about all of this here. In other news, the giant Sziget Eye will be first set up in Budapest’s Erzsebet Ter. (thanks Johan and crazyfrog)
New names tomorrow, maybe Iron Maiden?
The Sziget Facebook pages are announcing new names for tomorrow, and a very persistent speculation in comments is Iron Maiden, with one of our friends claiming to know so. Could that happen, do you think? Who else do you think will be part of the announcement? We’ll know for sure tomorrow, but that doesn’t mean we can’t keep on speculating…
