Tricky, Crystal Method & more at Sziget 2009 artists confirmed line-up links live main Stage news programme sziget 2009 sziget festival April 24, 2009July 27, 201320 It seems like today is one of those days in which announcements keep on coming. And we couldn’t be happier. The official Sziget Facebook site lists a whole bunch of new names. And there are quite a few interesting ones, that will certainly make you happy, as there is something to every taste. Here we go, then.First, there is Tricky, then The Crystal Method and the Editors, as well as mr. Paul Oakenfold himself. Then, we have The Subways and Eric Prydz. As always, we’ve posted links to the official sites, so that you can check out the bands easily. What do you think about that? How about the line-up so far? Who else would you like at Sziget Festival this year? Abig Szigetnews thanks goes to tool and Mellowmaniac. As I just wrote in the german forum I have the feeling that the organizers might save on the really big and expensive names and instead put the money in many more medium sized bands, so that we get a lot more international bands as we are used to. I guess that a lot more international bands will be anounced… I personally have the feeling that this year’s Sziget could get the best lineup of the last years! I’m more that happy with the lineup so far and most of my realistic wishes became true. Bands which would rise my exitement are still: – Kasabian – Grace Jones – Doves – Heartbreak – Friendly Fires – Faith No More – Arctic Monkey – The Enemy – The Gossip – The Pixies – Opeth – Porcupine Tree – Jesus Lizard – The Dead Weather – Heaven ‘n’ Hell
Who else would you like at Sziget Festival this year? Radiohead, Artic Monkeys and it will be perfect!
How about Pet Shop Boys? The’re gonna tour this summer also on festivals… I’d really love to see them on Sziget!!
Yeah, Tricky! Sure hope Oakenfold Prydz and Armin van Buuren aren’t the “big names” for the Party Arena though, that would really suck balls…
Another interesting (and for me surprising) possibility for a Day Zero act came up on the german board: Pearl Jam seem to play in Berlin on August 15th: http://www.mct-agentur.com/cart.0.html?action=ticketselect&dateid=762
That would really be great. Let’s see if it works out. Pearl Jam does sound like a “Sziget-type” act.
Pearl Jam are doing the following: Date – City – Venue 13 Aug – Rotterdam – Ahoy* 15 Aug – Berlin – Wulheide** 17 Aug – Manchester – MEN Arena*** 18 Aug – London – 02 Arena***
Oh – I heard they are going to do five european shows… So still a slim chance for a day zero performance at Sziget! 😉
Pearl Jam might be possible. But Kings of Leon are in America and Canada during that time, so it sounds a bit implausible.
Kings of leon will certainly not come. Look at their scedule: they gave a concert on the 9th&12th, they cannot come over between the two. It would be far too expensive for them. Arctic Monkeys could still come on the first day, but the chance is fading away… I think sziget will not announce any more bands before the 1st of May.
Green Day will be on tour in USA in August. They’ll be in Europe in October and November… Rancid will tour with Rise Against in USA in June and July. No Announcement of european dates yet.
