We’ve had the poll on the site for a few days now, and 330 visitors voted. The results were a bit surprising. Out of 330 votes, 163 visitors (49%) thought this year’s Sziget line-up could have been better, while 18% (60 voters) think it’s good and 16% (52 voters) think it’s very good. On the other hand, 38 visitors (12%) found nothing interesting in the line-up. Only 5% of the voters (17 visitors) say that the line-up exceeded their expectations. This is why we’re asking you what it is you think it’s missing.
Which act would have been a good addition to this year’s Sziget Festival?
Was last year’s Sziget line-up better than this year’s? Feel free to comment on the subject.

This is the hungarian style!!!! For these people is nothing good enought!!!! I think the line-up is very good !!!I will be tere all week long (First)!!!!
But where are Rage Against The Machine Metallica Underworld Fatboy Slim etc…? wan2 stage is a disaster(last year was very good)…Party arena nothing special..there’s only 1 supergroup per day…
Unfortunately, RATM was a rumor turned into… well, a rumor. We also heard people being disappointed about Leonard Cohen not coming, after all…
If u compare the line-up with the Dutch Lowlands festival , which is going to be held at the same time, it is more than disappointing. Not to mention that Lowlands is only a 3 day festival. Some names from that event: Black Mountain, The Breeders, Elbow, Sigur Ros, British Sea Power, dEUS, Dropkick Murphys, Foals, Franz Ferdinand, The Flaming Lips, The Gutter Twins, Hot Chip, The Hives, Iron & Wine, NERD, The National, Henry Rollins
agree with TomVek.
Flaming Lips and Sigur Ros would have been perfect bands for sziget. That they’re in the region at the time just rubs salt in the wound to be honest. Rage and Metalica would also have been exciting headliners. The Killers two years in a row is especially unforgivable, and The Kooks a headliner?! Jesus. Extremely disappointed by the lineup.
I have to say that I’ve been pretty disappointed. I agree that if you look at Lowlands then this line-up just cannot compare. Looking forward to Adam Green, Lee ‘scratch’ Perry and Justice but the line-up is too slanted towards heavy metal…
Well.. I also expected more from a six day festival, the Lowlands line-up is pretty damn good and hell yeah too much heavy metal..
I wasn’t too fond of the Lowlands crowd last time…. I think it will be way better at Sziget, wootwoot.
But I still believe it’s gonna be great
Hey everyone. Unfortunately I cant really agree whit the first comment. Of course I will be there all the week too (as usual
), but I am kind of disappointed whit this line-up. In my opinion last 3-4 years there were more ‘big names’ and its true that this year is a little bit too much heavy metal , but the worst problem is that there are only 5 full program days and I am very very disappointed about this.
The fact that it’s shorter was bad enough, at least they could have done what they promised. Have a shorter event, with more important acts. Last year’s line-up was way better. I mean, every night you had at least 2 or 3 acts one on top of the other and it was really tough to decide.
arcade fire to Sziget
I totally agree with Radio and TomVek. The line-up isnt too strong at all, but thats not a massive problem as it’s the atmosphere and finding new music, new friends, and generally having a great time thats important. However, getting the Killers to close the festival again is really weak. Even if they had picked one of the other headliners to close, and put the killers on earlier that would have given them some credibility. I think it’s just lazy. If money is the problem, as ive heard so often, then raise the ticket prices a little. I really thought Sziget had been getting better and better year on year – and was the best festival in Europe – but this year they have sold out. Just a little!
I think this year is even more disappointing then last year. But maybe the good point is this line up will force me away from the main stage and check out more other bands. I really expected some better dj’s (even though i know trance and drumb ‘n bass is still hot in Hungary). Why isn’t miss kittin, dr. lektroluv, trentemoller, boys noize, alter ego or digitalism in the line up:( And for bands why not Alabama Thunderpussy, Whitest Boy Alive, Quotsa etc. But i shouldn’t complain :-p I will party 24/7 anyways
Apart from the line-up I still prefer Sziget to Lowlands. This year I went to the Pinkpop festival here in the Netherlands and even though I saw RATM, Qotsa and Serj Tankian on the same day, I met with the lamest crowd ever, I would call them spectators instead, which means they came only to show off with their fancy clothes. So I am still looking forward to this year’s Sziget, but I am a bit unhappy with the bands.
I think the line-up is just very bland… they seem to have gone for bands which sell a lot of records, but are distinctly mediocre live. The Kooks headlining is just a joke, and goodness knows why they brought the Killers back again – last year they were overshadowed by virtually every other headline act.
Having said that, it is a festival all about unknown acts. I’m looking forward to seeing Apocalyptica and Die Aerzte live, both for the first time, but both of which I know to be awesome. And I’m sure I’ll meander around and find some great new bands I’d never even heard of. I still can’t wait.
I agree about the disappointing line-up this year. Of course there will be some good bands playing, but it could be so much better!! Editors, Franz Ferdinand, dEUS, maybe even Coldplay…. Hope the best for next year.
I also voted ‘Could have been better’.
As for the Main and WAN2 Stages, I think there’s a lack of electronic music. Last year we had two electronic headliners on the Main Stage (Faithless and Chemical Brothers) and further acts like Laurent Garnier, Nitzer Ebb, Cassius, UNKLE, Hyper, Yonderboi… This year we’ll get only Kraak & Smaak and Pendulum (which is scheduled at 16:30, way too early!). On the other hand there are more Indie acts than last year on the Main Stage. I also like that kind of music, but I’d gladly give up some of them for some more electronic acts.
I knew for some time already that the festival was shortened, so I did not take that into account. But when that fact was announced, the organisers promised to invest in a stronger line-up. Therefore I also expected some big bands to headline, way bigger than The Kooks. Also The Killers being the last headliner is very weak, as they closed the Main Stage last year as well. In my opinion the organisers should better exchange the schedule times of The Killers with Pendulum’s.
Acts which would have been good additions to the line-up in my opinion are: Underworld, Groove Armada, Fatboy Slim, Dropkick Murphys, Queens Of The Stone Age.
Me too. I mean RATM could have been here…
I agree with the most of you. I don´t like the Kooks and the Killers for the second time in two years must be a joke. Where is Massive Attack? Goldfrapp? RATM? I’m looking forward to see Pendulum, Apocalyptica, Justice and Flogging Molly. But for God’s sake, last year we had Nine Inch Nails, Faithless, Chemical Brothers and many many more great acts. This year’s lineup can’t compare to it. It’s a pity.
I will attend this edition of the festival mainly for the atmosphere. The lineup could have been waaay better. I was hoping to finally see Queens Of The Stone Age. Some dEUS would have been nice too, especially since they’re going to perform in the neighborhood (in Romania) that week. Besides them, I would have loved to see at least one of the following: The Duke Spirit, Dresden Dolls, Ladytron, UNKLE, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Grinderman, Maximo Park, Klaxons or The Black Keys. Compared to last year’s lineup (with NIN, Tool, UNKLE, EODM, Chemical Brothers), this year’s lineup is quite weak.
This year´s lineup is quite weak.
i´m looking forward to more big electronic stuff. KRAFTY KUTS, STANTON WARRIORS, PLUMP DJ´S…….
I expected better dj’s on the party arena and meduza!!!
Last year it was pefect!!!!!!!!!!!
Just voted in the poll. Now 51% of the voters think the line-up could have been better. I couldn’t agree with them more.
[...] had a lot of feedback from you about the line-up poll and most of you (51% – 188 votes) thought it could have been better this [...]
I also agree that the line up is not so good. In the beginning there was a wish list and the last I saw of that was that Rammstein was at the nr 1 spot. What happened with this? Also bands like Disturbed and Machine Head are bands I really wanted to see there. Metallica and Foofighters are also in europe around that time. I also agree that the Kooks and the Killers are not good enough for head liners.
There was also a wishlist about bands from Holland, and the only bands picked from that are Kraak en Smaak and Ziggi (Ziggi on main stage???? WTF!). There are way better bands from around here!
My main problem is that the music on the main stage is to soft. And offcourse there is the metal stage for the heavy music, but the only good band on the main stage for me is Maiden. I hope the last spot on the main stage will be used for a big band!
First of all I like to pint out that I really look forward to Sziget, the musical program doesn’t live up to the internationale allure of the festival though. Only 1 really big nam imo (R.E.M.), most stages are simply dissapointing. The party arena does only have 2 interesting acts (Justice and Carl Cox), the bands on the mainstage are just way to weak to be headlining a festival of this size.
Personaly I am a little let down. Me and some friends bought tickets in advance surtain that the line up would turn up to be allright. I must say I have really enjoyed the festival atmosphere and all the other things that are to do besides the music.
Altough I feel that this year it’s not quite what we hoped it would turn out te be. I would really like to see some acts or dj’s who will make this festival more atractive for people who enjoy electronic music like Digitalism, Underworld, Soulwax, Chem Bros, etc.
Some minimal/techhouse would also be great.
An update for the “night-programming” would give a boost to the festival.
there is nothing to be surprise dear organizators…this line up is orrible, a true garbage…killers are just the worst band in the world, kooks and iron maiden….bleah…
in this website there is a amazing name…RATM…well…why this band didn’t play at Sziget?
Come on, this year Sziget must be closed by out of business, ii hope that the fans go where i go this summer, like last summer, to the Pukkelpop, in Belgium.
THIS LINE UP IS A SHAME!!!!
This line-up is a huge dissapointment so far. If you are going to make it shorter than last year, then at least show us those big names you promised! I would NEVER pay this amount of money to see bands who had their golden age years or even decades ago…
Why don’t you just take a look at the line-up of the other big european festivals and learn something from them??
It’s funny how the organisers of those events never complaing about being unable to get this and that band play at their festival AGAIN?
This festival is a joke…
First of all THANK U for Jamiroquai, Roisin, MGMT, Alanis.
Anyway I must agree to that comment about wan2 stage. It was reeeeally special last year: iamx, unkle, cassius, yonderboi, hooverphonic…
I’m kindah disappointed and I really wanted to see something more interesting in the line-up this year. Maybe smthn like Editors, The Raconteurs, White Rose Movement, Electric Six, Coldplay…
