Sziget 2018: New Information at Yesterday’s Press Release

"We have managed to put together the strongest musical program this year", Kádár Tamás, Sziget Festival's lead organizer said at the beginning of yesterday's press conference. "It's enough if you look at the headliners of the Main Stage with present-day stars like Kendrick Lamar, Gorillaz, Lana Del Rey, Mumford and Sons, Dua Lipa, Kygo or Arctic Monkeys". Kádár took over for Gerendai Károly as the lead organizer last year, after the latter announced his retirement of sorts from the position after 25 years. Kádár also revealed that after cross-checking with the festival's new investors - the event now has a three-year growth strategy.

Arctic Monkeys is the name you've all been waiting for - and as it turns out, you were right. The Sheffield rock band with six BRIT Awards and three Grammy nominations under their belt will join the lineup of Sziget 2018 as a headliner, playing the Main Stage on the 14th of August this year, between 21:30 and 23:30 - a two-hour show. Unlike in the previous years, when December saw the first announcement (or two) regarding the lineup of the event in the coming year, this year Sziget took its time. It has prepared to announce part of its lineup in December but delayed it at the time, citing its need for "a bit more time" to put together a relevant announcement for its fans.
