Dotan at Sziget 2015, festival increases budget

Dotan is the latest name added to Sziget 2015.

According to Festileaks, Dutch singer-songwriter Dotan is set to play Sziget 2015, an information he has confirmed on Studio Brussel.

(thanks go to Dimi)

In other news, Sziget organizers have announced that the Sziget 2015 budget is bigger than the one for last year’s festival – 4.4 bn forints, compared to 3.6 bn forints.

Half of the increase will be spent on bringing Robbie Williams (that’s some 1.3 million euros).

  1. 25,000 day tickets available, of which the first 10,000 for 59€ and the rest for 65€.
10,000 day tickets have been sold for 59€ = 590,000€
15,000 day tickets will be sold for 65€ = 975,000€
    590,000€ + 975,000€ = 1,565,000€
Take off the VAT and earnings will be about 1,300,000€, so the money for booking Robbie Williams will not go at the cost of the budget for the rest of the festival.

For as far as I remember, before last year there always were Hungarian acts on Day -1 only, so I’m happy with Robbie Williams.

  2. Yes, but they said that they will increase the capacity of absorption of the festival (more showers etc.). The capacity of the A38 will be increased as well, and there is the party arena now again so it won’t be as crowded as last year!

We are pretty lucky with Sziget I think, these names are so much worse than that!

  4. @Szitizen. If you have robbie williams you have more sponsor. You also sell more 7 days passes, you sell a lot od drinks and food. If you cover the costs with daily tickets you surely gain from the rest. And you have a lot of advertising from media. So, really good business.

  5. I’d take The Chemicals and Simple Plan (teenage me want them so bad even though I don’t listen to them anymore). Also, on the poster SP shared on facebook, there is Interpol, which isn’t on the poster Frequency shared.

  6. Faithless announced London, 2 concerts in Germany and today Opener festival. still hope for Sziget. Theey’ve been at sziget 5 times before…

  7. @SkaPanda

Appollonia = Dan Ghenacia + Dyed Soundorom + Shonky

    😉

They’re very good btw if you like minimal techno.

New names next week I guess…

  8. Not possible. A38 is closed Monday 10th. They just have put the date of the beginning of the festival 🙂

  9. I’m almost sure it was open on the tuesday (A day to remember and others). But that doesn’t mean that it won’t be on monday this year, we just don’t know yet. LAst year after each announcement we knew a few dates but this year it’s completely opaque.

  10. yes, it is possible. but as i said, most of the bands will post 10th as their date, so reposting it here everytime is irrelevant and annoying

  11. You’re right.
We now know that they will play as a live band.
Also, they are playing Finland on the 7th and London on the 13th so I’d say that they are more likely to play at the beginning of the week.

  12. Firefly Festival has announced Kings Of Leon and The Killers (and one blurred headliner). It’s in june in the US. It means nothing but they can added to the possibilities as it’s their first show announced.
If I could I’d take both, but I’d rather have The Killers!

  13. I don’t think they’ll come back that soon, especially that the sound system was the worst of the headliners.
From that festival I think we will get Simple Plan (also announced at Frequency).
But all the good rock-metal are still in june-july :/

  14. Because Faithless is not good. Ok, Eddie! you just go to Balaton Sound. It is your place this summer. We want great rock bands in Sziget, not a lot of boring electronic bands.

  15. @rambo joe frickle… sziget is about offering a good mix of all genres with a current following. why are you surprised / insulted by them booking electronic bands when they’ve been doing it consistently for almost a decade?

that being said, i’d take disclosure, rudimental, or porter robinson over faithless for a live electronic headliner any day.

  16. So if Oasis reunite you would say that they are outdated? If Sziget gets Mc Cartney with a hologram of John Lennon you would say the same?
@Thetrootroo I’d take Rudimental and Disclosure too (don’t know Porter Robinson) but I don’t think they would headline. Maybe sub, or headline the tent/party arena.

  17. Noel, please don’t distort. Oasis is not reunite yet. Beatles? How come to this? Faithless burned out his renown, cause they played 5 times in Sziget. Not needed!

  18. I understand your point of view. What I said is hypothetical.

There are a lot of people going to Sziget for the first time. It will be my 2nd time and I’ve just discovered Faithless (thanks to this reunion). Now, no need to talk about this ’cause they are playing Balaton and let’s hope for good dance act (and NOT Martin Garrix!!!!). Underworld would be nice!

  19. @noeliam
no point of arguing with rambo, he is obviously just a troll here. if we don’t answer him, he will certainly disappear. he’s got trouble writing in english too 😀

  20. Okay you caught my attention now!

Daft Punk is a dream but M83 would be the best thing to ever happen to Sziget! It’s my favorite band but yeah, not touring unfortunately! But I wouldn’t consider them as “dance”.

  21. I don’t really listen to Faithless but I’d like to go and see them. They’ve played a couple of festivals I’ve been at before but one time I watched another act and another time I was tired and went to my tent. It’s more that my friends have enjoyed seeing them live and it’s one to tick off the bucket list.

I’ve already seen just about every band rumoured to be headlining apart from Linkin Park, and I could take or leave them. Blur I saw at Sziget too years ago so not bothered about them, I’d like to go and see Chemical Brothers again as I love them but of course it’s not even both of them performing on this tour so it’s more Chemical Brother.

Generally I listen to much more underground electronic music now, and Sziget has already booked by favourite DJ (Dixon) and hopefully will have some of the others on his label too. I’d take an Innervisions showcase over any rock band.

Rock snobbery is rather amusing, having one-dimensional music taste shouldn’t be something to be proud of. I’d happily go and see Tame Impala, Interpol, POND, War on Drugs and get my guitar fix by day before watching Dixon, DJ Koze, Modeselektor and Christian Loffler by night
