There will be a headliner. the last few years have seen quite large names on -1. before that it used to be only Hungarian artists on the main stage on day -1. I think day-1 looks great this year with 3 international bands on the main stage already:) I would predict that they will choose a large international artist to top this day as well:) Lineup is looking good overall, Remember that they still need to add the artists from magic mirror, classical and jazz stage, theatre stage, mexx stage, ambient stage, colloseum and circus stages plus much more stuff im sure.
Seems to me we now have 2 main-stage names left since they say that the nagyszinpad-contest-winner is also playing the mainstage? Headliner on -1 and the slot before Guetta?
About right HTeK but I think we actually have 3 slots still. Gotta be a big name for -1 or they wouldnt save it till last announcement, slot before Guetta, Cage the Elephant, at best guess. Then you have an opening slot on either Muse day or Guetta day (Wolfmother ;p) with the nagyszinpad winner taking the 4th slot….
Opening slot?? So we already have 4 slots and the day -1 headliner with Die Antwoord at Day -1 or what ? :O
But does not someone here say that Sum41 will play before Guetta? I hear that they will be sub-heads before Guetta.. but i don´t know if it´s true..
I think this needs another pointing out. We are talking about the best line-up in Europe!!! “Budapest Park Tribute Stage The Tribute stage expects its visitors with performers like Stoned (Rolling Stones), Pearl Jam Tribute by Grunge Electric, Motörhand, Maroon 5 Cover Show, Rage Against Tribute by Subscribe, Piknik Park, as well as Tökéletes Helyettesek – paying homage to Kispál és a Borz.”
Irie Maffia will perform on the Hungarian Stage this year, so won’t be taking any of the slots on Main Stage or A38 Stage as in previous years. These are all the acts for that stage according to Sziget Festival Nederland: 30Y * Anima Sound System * Anna and the Barbies * Babel * Bagossy Brothers Company * Baron Mantis * Belga * Bin-Jip * Bohemian Betyars * Budapest Bár * DJ Fülöp, Lobenwein & Murak * DJ Radnai * DJs Venom (Halott Pénz), Future & Kemon (Irie Maffia) * Dope Calypso * Esti Kornél * Fran Palermo * Freddie * Hiperkarma * Intim Torna Illegál * Irie Maffia * Ivan And The Parazol * Kiscsillag * M.P.Sz. …Andfriends * Magashegyi Underground * Margaret Island * Marge * Mary Popkids * Maxisun * Middlemist Red * Mongooz and the Magnet * Odett * Palotai * Passed * Péterfy Bori & Love Band * Run Over Dogs * Spanish Wax * Supernem * Superstereo * Swamp * Szabó Balázs Bandája * Szabó Benedek és a Galaxisok * Tesco Disco * The Biebers * The Picard * Tudósok * Vad Fruttik * Wellhello * Zaporozsec
@noeliam When you say Indie-disco you’re talking about real Indie/rock/pop-music? Or yet another techno-pop-pop-pop party?
Balaton presents some names for there party boat today and the people are very very angry when you look at their facebook page… Because everybody want Hardwell at Balaton.. and Balaton says that they will bring more hip hop / rapper names now.. So maybe this is why they bring more and more EDM to Sziget.. I think Tiesto could be a option for Day -1 headliner.. if they bring him i think Tiesto is to big for the Telekom Arena.. And they Sziget playlist a few weeks ago show us Hardwell & Tiesto! And now Hardwell is on Sziget.. so maybe this list was true.. I think their strategy this year about the day tickets is not very good… 2015 they sell a lot of higher price Day -1 tickets cause of Robbie Williams.. How want they sell out their day tickets this year.. especially when you look on Friday Day 0.. They should give us the Day -1 head…..
Meanwhile, new names at Reading & Leeds: Good Charlotte – NAS – Frank Turner – Coheed and Cambria – BØRNS – Hacktivist – KANO – Delta Heavy – Fred V & Grafix – YUNG LEAN – HÆLOS – Tonight Alive – Eagulls – Beach Slang – Friction – MILK TEETH – Pulled Apart by Horses – The Temper Trap – Sunset Sons – Ezra Furman – Maverick Sabre & more. Maybe some of these will be in the Sziget’s next announcement.
Every year Flow Festival (12.-14.8. Finland) and Sziget have same artists/bands. This is Flow Festival lineup: Friday 12/8 Massive Attack & Young Fathers (UK) Iggy Pop (US) Jamie xx (UK) Four Tet (UK) Sleaford Mods (UK) Lil B (US) Stormzy (UK) Ben Klock (DE) Phuture live (DJ Pierre & Spanky) (US) The Black Madonna (US) Roman Flugel (DE) Paula Temple (UK) Ata Kak (GH) Saturday 13/8 The Last Shadow Puppets (UK) M83 (FR) Chvrches (UK) The Kills (UK/US) Hercules & Love Affair (US) Floating Points (live) (UK) GoldLink (US) Wooden Wisdom (US/UK) Holly Herndon (US) Jeff Mills (US) Oscar Mulero (ES) Voices From The Lake (IT) Sunday 14/8 Sia (AU) New Order (UK) Descendents (US) Daughter (UK) Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals (US) Kamasi Washington (US) Thundercat (US) Thee Oh Sees (US) Arca (DJ set) (VE) John Talabot (DJ set) (ES) Pantha Du Prince presents The Triad (DE) Shackleton presents: Powerplant (UK)
As I already see New Order at Sónar, I’d take Massive Attack as Day -1 headliner. It would be mindblowing!
@noeliam Sounds great. Will definately try to attend there.. As for the R&L-line up it seems very good with a lot of names I would love to see in the last slots here. Frank Turner, Biffy Clyro, Fall Out Boy, The Vaccines, A$AP Rocky, Jack Ü, Twenty One Pilots, NAS, Good Charlotte og Ezra Furman would all be great. As there are so many good available bands out there, I guess we’ll end up with some shitty band I’ve never heard of or a local one… Fingers crossed though 😉
As to Day -1, I’d hate to see AC/DC with Axl. GnR from Coachella was amazing. Better than ever. Still hoping for Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack or Gorillaz (super long shot). RHCP would be ok. I think they’ll go for something different from the rest of the day, just from a marketing perspective. Rather than have Die Antword open for Rammstein (which would be amazing), they’ll go DA into something different (Electronic, legacy rock, etc). Sucks that Macca booked more shows in the US. That could be epic. What about Bruce Springsteen? Is he as big a deal over here in Europe as he is in the states? I see Radiohead still a possibility. Ugh. The waiting!
I don’t know what to think, guys. At the press conference, Gerendai also told something like this: “We can avoid the crazy bids for specific bands and spending tremendous sums of money, but in exchange we can spand in other things that we can develop. […] It is a strange circuit, therefore, because we don’t spend a lot of money on the bands, it does not mean that the festival will be worse.” That’s what I read in the Hungarian press. Does it mean that we shouldn’t expect or hope for something really big for Day -1? I don’t even know how realistic are RHCP, The Killers and Mumford and Sons after his statement.
It seems that we also have a daily schedule on their website now, so we can find the bands easier, but those aren’t grouped by stage yet, you can see the stage only if you click on the artist.
I don´t believe in a big name for Day -1 head.. I am sure that they wanted Rihanna for Day -1, but she have no time or other reasons.. so they decided to bring her on Day 0. Also when you look on the actually Day -1 line up, there are bigger bands than last years.. so i think the Day -1 headliner will be not big.
Same as Daniel (still seeing the Killers as a possible surprise announcement though), it can be a really good thing to also focus on new activities (such as the new ferris wheel), let’s not forget that what makes this festival so cool is the atmosphere (along with the music of course but still).
Just saw that the Day -1 ticket price is the same as for the other days… it could mean that we shouldn’t expect something really special, but Muse and Rihanna days have the same price, so I will hope for The Killers, Mumford and Sons or Rammstein until the announcement. 😀 RHCP or The Chemical Brothers would be fine, but I would be more excited for one of the first three I mentioned.
Yes they do : http://szigetfestival.com/info/sziget_eye_belvaros I read somewhere that they were renting the previous one and they decided to buy the new one. Hopefuly they will provide more details after May the 5th 🙂
SO we will get the wheel from the 2013 Edition what stands 2014 + 2015 in Budapest ? And the city Budapest will get a new one?
The Sziget Eye would be very appreciated. In 2014 I havent had the chance to jump on it but this year I would have more time, since I will sleep in the island. Plus, the Sziget Eye is a symbol Sziget should not really get rid of! About the -1 Headliner, the subheadliner of Guetta, the Headliners left in the A38 and the Colosseum lineup (so, about the most important spots left TBA yet), I hope we’ll have some information in this May which is gonna come!
I don’t think a new ferris wheel is gonna come to the island. Belváros is where the ferris wheel in the centre was standing and I think they are going to replace that one only.
