What’s your current Sziget 2015 wishlist?

We thought it would be a good idea to ask you what your current Sziget 2015 wishlist is, in light of the recent announcement, and of what the lineup has to offer at this moment.

We know that you’ve probably already submitted a Sziget 2015 wishlist and the organizers have surely taken it into account, but a discussion about this is always fun (and some of you have already started one in the comments of this article).

So, considering what is already in the Sziget 2015 lineup, who would you (realistically) like to add to the Sziget 2015 lineup?

Of course, this has no effect on the organizers’ choices (or possibilities), but maybe they hear you (or read you).

  10. björk
    st. vincent
    run the jewels
    kendrick lamar
    hot chip
    of montreal
    black rebel motorcycle club

  11. Like mentioned in the previous post, I would like some more guitar bands + rock/metal. The line-up needs a bit of this variation.

I’ve mainly tried to look for acts that are actually touring in Europe that period. Makes it more possible and realistic to book them. Enough cool acts out there I would love to see:

    Eagles of Death Metal
    Linkin Park
    Limp Bizkit
    Rob Zombie
    Danko Jones
    Within Temptation
    Black Label Society
    Royal Blood
    The Dillinger Escape Plan

And please, please NO Libertines. Awfull.

  12. hey, I just filled the comeback of 2015 Rock Metal Stage in my previous post! Lol 😉

  13. @agony
you say the libertines are awfull (sic!)
    you like nightwish

i think that reveals a lot abaout your “taste” lol

  14. the others are all right, but royal blood is in the usa during sziget

danko jones/nightwish/black label/dillinger/eodm are playing at other hungarian festivals this year

  15. Headliners:
    2/3 out of these:
    Linkin Park
    Kings of Leon
    Lenny Kravitz
1/2 out of these (probably in combination with Ellie):
    Major Lazer

Other acts that are around and I would like to see:
    Franz Ferdinand & Sparks
    Mark Ronson
    Limp Bizkit
    George Ezra
    Ben Howard
    Years &Years
    Twenty One Pilots
    Jack Garratt
    The Wombats
    Catfish and the Bottlemen
    The Offspring
    The Gaslight Anthem

  16. Underworld
    Chemical Brothers
    Linkin Park
    Limp Bizkit
    Cancer Bats
    Ghost b.c
    Rob Zombie
    The Dilinger escape plan
    Run the jewels
    Tame impala

    All acts are touring 🙂

  17. Stromae
    Years & years
    George Ezra
    Jack Ü
    Kendrick Lamar
    Arctic Monkeys
    Seinabo Sey
    Rag’n’Bone Man
    Major Lazer
    Lion Babe
    Alison Wonderland
    Tove Lo

  18. I won’t put bands I see elsewhere like The Black Keys, The Strokes, Underworld, Mumford & Sons, Slipknot, Muse and Linkin Park (but if Muse and Linkin Park come as well, it would be great!). I also put out big bands not in tour like Iron Maiden, Arcade Fire and Arctic Monkeys, bands not coming for sure like Metallica, Foo Fighters or Kings Of Leon and bands already playing at Volt.

This is a WISH list, so let’s start with some POST ROCK, a genre i love but never been to Sziget:
    Godspeed You! Black Emperor
    God Is An Astronaut
    This Will Destroy You
And So I Watch You From Afar
    If These Trees Could Talk

Then some hardick music that would have been at Sziget till metal day of 2012:
    The Dillinger Escape Plan
    In Flames
    Judas Priest
    Machine Head
Disturbed (they’re in pause but imagine if they come back)

Now I come back on Planet Earth and I say:
    The War On Drugs
    Jack White
System Of A Down (I know they don’t play in Hungary due to political reasons, but hope never dies)
    The Chemical Brothers
    Tame Impala
    The Parov Stelar Band
    Hudson Mohawke (live)
    Jamie XX
    The Offspring
    Die Antwoord
    Four Tet
    Hot Chip
    Rodrigo y Gabriela
    Mark Lanegan Band
    Limp Bizkit
    Shantel (with Bucovina Orkestar)

Then who I hope DON’T play:
    Kendrick Lamar
    Snoop Dogg
Ok, dont want any kind hip hop act with the only exception of Run The Jewels (but I already see them elsewhere)

  19. @Robert

Ghost BC is not (yet) touring. New album coming this year though.
Cancer Bats would be a great addition!

  20. @agony

30 août 2015 Braham Park, UK Leeds Festival

  21. St. Vincent
    Franz Ferdinand + Sparks
    Jack White
    The War On Drugs
    Jamie T

  22. @Art: Are you kidding about thetrootroo having the best list? It’s mostly composed of (very talented) electronic artists! I thought you hated all things electronic?!

  23. @headline

I do, but anyone who lists Refused, American Football, alexisonfire and Brand has some quality music taste I cant refuse 🙂

  24. also how is that possible that people here post great music which is awesome and gives my hope back, so possible these go into their voting page as well, and yet they still book awful artists? They just don’t care this much?

  25. Indeed when i see peoples lists i’m hoping that the Sziget bookers read this and wil listen 🙂 Sure not everything can be booked but a few would be nice!

  26. @Robert @Papa! GHOST!!! Would be awesome!

@All: please check your facts before posting. For example: Machine Head refuses to play festivals. Killers aren’t touring this year.

@Bender: And So I Watch You From Afar!! Great band!

  27. Some great additions to the current line up :

    Linkin Park
    The Strokes
    The Libertines
    Cloud Nothings
    Hot Chip
    Charli XCX
    Axwell ^ Ingrosso
    Robin Schulz
    Mark Ronson

    Marek Hemmann
    Clara Moto
    Jacques Greene
    Nicolas Jaar

aaaand Radiohead (may as well dream)

  29. Saying all that, other lists remind me of Chemical Brothers, Kendrick Lamar, Sufjan Stevens, Manchester Orchestra, Alexisonfire, Run the Jewels and Noel Gallagher all of whom I’d happily take

  30. @Art it’s just that a lot of us go to Sziget first of all for the festival itself. In 2013 a friend of mine came just liking Ska P and Nero (and they played at the same hour in 2 different stages, funny thing) but he came back in 2014 and he’s coming back in 2015. I personally don’t go anymore to Sziget for music (but a great lineup would be appreciated). I started going to other music festivals in 2013, those festivals that are all about music. This summer Sziget will be one of the 3 festivals I’m attending 🙂

  31. Based on a show I went to last year, there is only one name I truly need…

  32. @Bender

WHY??? I could never understand this. Music makes the festival and not one way around. This “going for the feeling” stuff creeps me out. It’s like they/you agrees on the line-up is bad, but you deal with and force yourself to have fun. Why can’t be a good line-up go with the good times. I’ve been to dozens of festivals and sziget has nothing different than any other fest. People should go to a fest for the bands and not the feeling. You don’t go to a cinema to have popcorn, its absurd…

  33. Nothing different than any other fest?? You must be kidding. Everyone I know that has been to Sziget and other festivals says that there’s nothing comparable to Sziget in terms of fun, mood, atmosphere and things to do. And at a festival like Sziget music is part of a bigger experience. I’ve never spent my whole day under a stage and I’ll never do that at Sziget. If I want to see only concerts I go to Werchter, Primavera Sound, Reading, Rock Am Ring, Sonisphere. I go to concerts. I want so see Slipknot? I’m going to Slipknot’s concert. I want to see Muse? I go to Muse’s concerts. Same goes for Mumford & Sons. Fortunately I live in a big city where big bands come, so I have a great choice. When I come to Budapest for Sziget I want more than just a series of concert. The same goes for Balaton Sound. I’ve been there for curiosity because a lot of people told me that is a total party. I’ve been there and in 5 days I watched maybe 8-10 concerts/sets. You know what? I’m going back. And with the only exception of Faithless that I love, I totally dislike every other act. But I’m going to have great fan again!

  34. Fortunately I’ve been there for so many years and I know how Sziget was. So if you ask me if I prefer how Sziget is or how Sziget was till 2011 I tell you that for music the old Sziget was so much better, totally on another lever. I really miss venues like Metal Stage or Meduza. Even Mokka Cuka! But I love this Sziget too. The island is never been this beautiful and I like new things like Sziget Beach, fake Ruin Pubs and else.

Sorry, 3 comments instead of one 😛

  35. Sow the music/stages of Sziget < 2012 and the 'vibe' and atmosfere of today's Sziget will make it the best Festival ever. Just saying 😉

  36. Art you should go into stand up f***** hilarious. Brilliantly ironic last line, lots of people go to the cinema just for the sake of going the cinema.A truly terrible comeback!

  37. Blur
    Catfish and the bottlemen
    Jamie T
    The Strypes
    George Ezra
    Brandon Flowers

  38. Ok I give up, pay ridicolous amounts of money to not see bands and have the sziget feeling, instead of having a packed festival line-up where you have to make decisions of what to see or not, becuase bands clash. its up to you, I’d choose the later. If I want to get drunk, and have fun with my friends, I can do that without the sziget eye and the krishna tent for less cheaper, although I miss out the sziget feeling I never felt over the years I’ve been to the fest. Yet alone sziget was the worst feeling because the top was 3 bands/day worth seeing and the rest of the time was just boring as hell, and other good festivals was full of experience, because MUSIC makes a FESTIVAL nothing more, nothing less. peace.

  39. I think the lineup is looking fun and diverse. This will be the 5th sziget and I’ve loved them all. I go for the weather, chilling at the spas, the diverse music, some of my fav moments were at bands I’ve never heard of. The sziget crew create a relaxed vibe due to great orgnaisation and lack of queuing. I had backstage press presses one year and it no more vip than a standard festival ticket. Whatever you want you can get without queuing or hassle, no other festival Ive been to comes close. I also like the crowd, I have never seen any antisocial behaviour at sziget, very different to reading or leeds

  40. Roisin Murphy
    Hercules and Love Affair
    Steed Lord
    Kaiser Chiefs
    James Bay
    Tame Impala

  41. @ Art,

Wow, just wow 🙂 I think that many people go to lots of festivals. And we all agree: sziget is way more than just music. I agree with Ben here. If you are bored because there are only 3 bands you like a day? What the hell does a person like you makes you happy? Enjoy the city, swimmming pools, the great food, etc. And if you only care about music that you like. Why don’t you spend time checking out other bands at the festival?? You only like 3 bands, so you got plenty of time left. I do have to give you some respect. I hardly make it to watch 3 bands a day. Too busy having a good time with other people, sports, swimming, eating, drinking.

  42. Massive Attack (if they pulled this off, imagine)
    Kendrick Lamar
    Tame Impala
    The Prodigy
    The Chemical Brothers
    Fatboy Slim
    Royal Blood
    Childish Gambino
    James Blake
    Foo Fighters
    Wolf Alice
    Jamie T
    The Black Keys
    The National

  43. Can we stop caring about what Art thinks? He brought all the negativity here. This used to be a positive place, now people insult each other. Who cares what he thinks. Calling Sziget the worst feeling, while still posting here? Please. Don’t reply to him anymore, just wait for the next clue or probable leak. Jesus.

  44. I bring back the positivity:). Love the sziget, where else has a gay stage:). Yes it terrible, but Im pretty happy with it. Oh and the tribute stage last year was amazing, the nirvana tribute was spot on

  45. @Dropkick

Fyi having good time/swimming/eating/drinking shouldnt cost 200+ euros, you know these are the freetime activities you can do in your Freetime. If you are busy at a good festival you don’t have time to do that. Your ticket pays the artists not the stuff mentioned. Why can’t we have good/relevant artists to accompanies those things for the ticket price?? that’s my problem. But looks like i’m stupid and ruining this heavenly site with my negativity…

  46. @art
you have friends? like real ones? now that’s surprising with your attitude lol

  47. @Art: it’s blatantly obvious that you have no friends.

“Fyi having good time/swimming/eating/drinking shouldnt cost 200+ euros, you know these are the freetime activities you can do in your Freetime.”

Yes, because you do those activities alone… To do them on an amazing island with thousands of other people from different countries, that costs a bit more. Plus, Sziget puts loads of money and time into the production value of the festival. Do you think all of the visuals and unique experiences just show up completely free of charge or effort?

“Music makes a festival. Nothing more, nothing less.”

If you think that, then it’s glaringly obvious that you have no friends. I’m going to Sziget to meet people, share experiences, and do fun shit, all while being surrounded by a pretty diverse and fun lineup (so far). Sziget provides social experiences… not everyone wants to stand in front of a stage in the sun for 8+ hours a day. Some of us want to mix it up. And Sziget is cheaper than most festivals by a long shot, includes 7 days of fun and programs, and includes camping on an island in the middle of the Danube.

So, to conclude, the only way you can think festivals are “only about the music”, the only way you can think Sziget is “over priced”, and the only way you can think that other activities aren’t worth your time at a festival, is if you have no one to experience those things with. I picture Art being anti-social, elitist, and a fairly lonely guy in general. We should all go a bit easier on him guys. This festival is about inclusion and love! And Art desperately needs those two things in his life right now. It is clear.

  48. @NEVERTHELESS: With that said, I agree with you. Let’s just ignore him. He has to stop eventually right.

  49. you guys are pathetic I guess you are all right. liking music/concert and want to do at a festival what it’s meant to be for means i have no friends, I’m speechless… You cant go to shows with friends I guess, you are ALONE at the sohws. Also you can’t go swimming/eating/drinking outside of a fest with your friends, another obvious thing. Seriously brainless idiots here.

  50. A clue to finish off the week John? May give Art a break from all the grief too.

  51. it’s not a clue, it’s really just the first slogan of sziget 🙂 it is really what sziget is about, spending a week together

  52. It’s funny how almost all of us complain about the lineup but still go to the festival. It’s a win for Sziget. I can’t imagine my summers without Sziget. And I’m taking every year more friends there. In my first Sziget we were only 2, last year we were a group of 18 people all from Italy. This year I’m adding some erasmus Spanish friends spending their year in Rome and we’ll be even more!

  53. Art isn’t all wrong. I’d be massively peeved if I booked to go to a festival and the line up sucked. I loved Sziget when I went in 2013 but certainly would have enjoyed it more if the line up had been better. I stopped going to Leeds when the line up dropped in quality. The difference with me is that I’m not posting on Leeds festival sites now that I’m not going!

As it happens, this year’s line up already has one of my favourite bands (Interpol) and my favourite DJ (Dixon), amongst a number of other half decent acts, so I’m not really complaining this time around. However, if they don’t announce anything else decent I’ll still be a little underwhelmed. Sziget or not, it is a music festival and primarily that, even if there’s other stuff going on.

Due to the fact that music festivals have become to popular, finding a festival that has a rounded line up is more difficult. Sziget for me is copying the Glastonbury format. Glastonbury has never had a lot of heavy music and has never suffered because of it, so Sziget has axed it. I can see why they’ve done it too, metal fans do have a reputation of being insular, close minded etc. which I don’t believe is the case in a lot of cases, but it certainly is in the majority (I say having been friends with a load of metal guys). This means metal fans tend to be harder to please and I can imagine that being a ball ache for bookers.

On the other hand, the current Sziget fans in general seem to be very easy to please. You only have to read the Facebook comments after they make an announcement to see how easy it is to keep the crowd happy.

  54. @Eddie

thanks Eddie, looks like not everyone is blindfolded here, gave my hope back. Cheers.

  55. @Art: Dude, no one is blindfolded, you’re just a massive downer and you suck as a human being. See what Eddie said about “metal fans”: that’s you, Art. You are that closed minded, hard-to-please, fight-starting piece of shit that no one wants to listen to or be around. Additionally, no one at any point has said the lineup is amazing, have they? We’re just not dwelling on it or putting down the festival as a whole when we all know how amazing the environment is.

You’ve openly said that you’re only here for the lineup. You’ve openly said that nothing else that happens at Sziget interests you. You’ve openly said you don’t like to do any of the activities offered or be social in any way other than the lineup, which you have openly said is terrible this year.

So I guess my question then would be, why are you still here? Still commenting? Sziget has nothing for you. No one here appreciates anything you have to say. Just let us have good conversation without your terribly closed-minded, 4-decade-old mindset. Not even Eddie agreed with you fully. You’re that desperate? Thanking a user who literally called you out for repeatedly posting on a forum you shouldn’t be a part of?

    I’ll paraphrase here:

I’m not going to Pukkelpopp’s forums or Facebook and complaining about their lineup, because I’m not going. Since you’re not coming to Sziget, stop posting. Or fix your attitude.

The difference between all of us and you is that when we decide a festival isn’t for us, and if we have nothing positive to contribute to the community, we’d stop posting and move on. You really must be a lonely dude to love posting and being repeatedly hated on. Is this the only social interaction you have?

    Love you boo.

  56. problem is I’m coming to the festival with my firends!! wow, so as a ticketholder, I have the right to express my dissapointment, but looks like I’m not welcome here, so yeah I’m the “closed-minded” who just don’t aggrees with the majority, so force me out here. ok man. see you.

  57. You complained once. Ok, we can see your point.
Complained twice. Ok, Sziget sucks to you, not to us.
Complained again. Right, we don’t care.
    Complained again and again. Boring.
That’s it. You are boring. You complained for the name announced, at least wait for the next announcement and if those names will disappoint you again complain again. Ok?

  58. @Art your determination and pig headedness is admiring. Keep up the good work! At the moment it’s the most entertainment were getting.

  59. These is my (hopefully) realistic wishlist, divided per stages:

    Main Stage:

    The Chemical Brothers
    Tame Impala
    Linkin Park
    Limp Bizkit
    James Blake
    FFS (Franz Ferdinand & Sparks)
    Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds

    A38 stage:

    Django Django
    The Wombats
    Nicolas Jaar
    Four Tet
    Jon Hopkins
    Jamie XX
    Fritz Kalkbrenner

    Ben Klock
    Tale Of Us
    Len Faki

I know it’s full of electronic acts, but we have to be realists: there are no very good mid-carder rock bands touring this year, as you can see from all other festivals’ line-ups.

  60. @ Mr. Brillio- nice selection!

I saw Recondite a week ago, he was quality and had a real hold on the crowd which I love.

Siriusmodeselektor interests me a lot. I haven’t seen Siriusmo in a long time but he was good and Modeselektor put together comfortably the funnest show I saw last year. They were meant to play a DJ set at Warehouse Project and tweeted in the evening that they fancied doing a live set so did so and absolutely killed it.

I’ve never seen Apparat as Apparat (seen him twice with Moderat) which sucks as I got in to him before any of the acts associated with him and I’ve seen them all now apart from him.

Ben Klock would be nice but I’d be shocked if they got Function, Dettmann and Klock at one event. I’m not sure if that’s even happened at Berghain!

One issue- James Blake would be rubbish main stage. His live show is really bassy and is very much designed for the indoors.

  61. If Klock plays he’ll play the Colosseum with Dettmann and Function. I can’t fathom why they’d book Klock to play a different stage to Dettmann

  62. Not 100% true! They’re not really bands but Tale of Us and Mind Against are both Italian and are both quality electronic duos!

  63. – Major Lazer

Anyway will be acts for Europe Stage so right, nobody here will care lol

  65. Yes,we have a good tradition for djs/electronic acts but we have few bands… they announced Apres la Classe,Lo stato sociale e Fast animals Slow Kids,3 good bands…but nothing special

  66. Subsonica came in 2010 playing on the Main Stage. Really liked that concert under the sun. It was hot as hell!
